  1. Conner High has announced five signees for NAIA football from the class of 2009: Union College has inked commitments from the following: TYLER BRAKE (TE) MAX MUCKERHEIDE (OT) RICH MORGAN (OT) WILLIAM "Scooter" ENGLEMON (WR/KR) Four great additions to the Union program! Lindsey-Wilson College, which actually begins its season 2010 as it starts a football program, (conditioning and building in 2009) has inked an acceptance from: CHRIS LAWRY (Long Snapper) We wish the best to all five Conner football signees! This was a great group of Seniors who went from one of the worst records in NKY in 2008 to one of the better records in 2009! Look forward to driving down to see these players in the future.
  2. Thomas Noll has committed and signed his letter of intent to play baseball for University of the Cumberlands - a great young man with excellent grades! This young man has come a long way for his ptching and hitting prowess at Conner this year. Way to go T-Bone!
  3. I cannot even begin to fathom a reason your student body would not show up to a semi final state football game - regardless of weather, other activities, holidays, vacations, funerals............this discuss really leads to why there are some areas of deficiency with our children today. Every parent, every brother and sister, every aunt and uncle, every cousin (both blood and kissin') , friends, neighbors, and even prior opposing team players and fans could and should be at a state semi final game - you only get a few chances in life, and this would be one of them. Fortunately, we live in NKY-----where football never dies...it may go into hibernation for a few months (not sure what two months) but it NEVER dies. So, all NKY fans, I hope you are able to join others and attend the Pizza Bowl for one if not all four of the games next week. To all four NKY teams, BEST WISHES .
  4. WOW - Congrat's from the Conner fans to the SK Pioneers. You guys have competed so tough - and I do not care what they say about either of those two teams you will play in the STATE FINALS...YOU CAN DO IT! Rest those bodies - get ready for a war next weekend - and IF I can get off work, I will be there with as many Conner HS players as I can fit into the car! GOOD LUCK TO THE PIONEERS NEXT WEEK. We were privledged to play you twice this year, and to quote both schools fans.....WE BELIEVE! GO FOR IT and bring home a STATE TITLE to SK.

  6. Wow sportsfan 22 - you must have a personal axe to grind with the Conner defensive coach (who is also the Boone County sheriff) - did you get a speeding ticket Friday night trying to catch up to the Simpson yards OR to the West passing yards????:laugh:
  7. Congrats to the Pioneers - this was a game as advertised..very hard hitting, high scoring, excitement down to the end, just like the first game - different victor this time. Bottom line - Conner could NOT stop Simpson...but not many teams have been able to. The changes SK has made since the first time these two teams played are remarkable, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Conner threw the ball deep to either score or set up scores - SK weak on the pass, and difference was the two turnovers Conner had vs none by SK. Great game by both teams.....and what a rivalry has been established. Both teams start mostly underclassmen - so this will be repeated next year! I will do a different thread over the weekend to talk about the year Conner has had.... again, great game---those that decided to stay home...you missed one of the best in the area over the last twelve weeks. To SK...go beat up on the Boone County Rebels next Friday night...and I'll be there rooting for SK to win
  8. Game time temp is expected to be in the upper 20's falling to mid twenties by end of the game. West needs to be out there tonight/tomorrow night practiceing the pitch and catch with his crew of receivers to get used to the cold. Conner does not need to water the field down - they just need to do their jobs and remember it is one week at a time. Force SK to pass the ball and lets see how SK handles the pressure. As I said at the beginning of this post, get to this game EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!! Seats will be at a premium, no matter what the weather is! Every Conner alumni, fiend, neighbor, and future high schoolers (with their parents) needs to come to this game and see what HS football is all about...and rooting for Conner would be a great touch! Coach Trosper is saying it like Coach Kelly from UC - "we've done out job as a team - the fans, parents, students, grandparents, mothers, brothers and sisters need to come and support Conner football" So all Conner alumni...get up off your good interntions and be at the field Friday night by 6:30 so you get a seat! And this time, don't leave until the final horn sounds and the game is over, hopefully with Conner on top!!! Either way, I promise you will see one hell of a football game.
  9. Actually, the Conner field is in the best shape I have seen it at this time of year in the last ten years! It still looks as good as it did against Ryle back on that Thursday night. Kuddo's to the head groundskeeper.... And this will be one of two great 6A games in NKY this Friday night. Get there EARLY...I think seats will be at a premium for both games, but especially the Conner game with only one sidelines of bleachers.
  10. yes, game will be at Conner next Friday night at 7:30 pm. This will be a slobber knocker...SK still mad as hell over this early season loss and Conner tired of hearing people say they were lucky to win that game. I expect Coach Trosper to have a fired up team for this one. Key will be in stopping Simpson/Dewalt for the Cougars and stopping West/Engleman for Pioneers. WOW...let's get his party started NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not know if I can wait a whole week for this one I heard from a SK MOM that SK had one saying all week..."win this one so we get our shot at Conner". Congrat's to Pioneers on this first round victory - looks like you dominated Lafayette!
  11. Quit keeping us in suspense................ score PLEASE!!!!!
  12. Go SK........Having seen Boone, Ryle, CC, SK, .....Campbell is the team that completely took it to Conner and spanked them badly. CC actually scares me as much as Boone! A SK win also would give Conner a 2 seed in 6A since Boone is winning 21-0 at the half Go SK!!@!!
  13. I think it was best said by one of the Fri night radio announcers at the Fri Bellvue vs Dayton game...."Nick West is my fantasy QB the rest of the season........."
  14. Yes, all of the above is true - and yes, Trosper indicated he will play JV at least the first half. Yes, NCC is a TOUGH opponent...yes, Conner will be battered and bruised.....and yes, I think it sends a message to all ---look what WE can do. Now, so everyone has the rest of the story, nothing against Dayton Belmont because any team can beat any team on a good day....but, Dayton Belmont has not won a game this year and has lost by an average of over 40 points per game.....so, while a gamble on Coach Trospers part, it has a smaller risk factor. On the other hand, Dayton Belmont can come out looking for the upset! This Dayton belmont team gave Conner a good game last year at Conner.... Finally, this gives Conner a chance to play at a "big venue", as Dayton Belmont plays at the University of Dayton field (Welcome Stadium)..... Keep in mind this also gives the team a 2nd bye week , now later in the season, which allows all to heal up prior to the playoffs.....1st bye week was week two, right after the Cooper game............. Begins to sound a lot smarter on Coach Trospers part, huh!!!!
