With, what seem to be the end of the Kentucky-Tennessee All-Star game, What is your preference to the future format for a Kentucky All-Star game.

Personally, I would like to have an East-West Game.

1. It would allow more Kentucky players an opportunity to play, fielding two teams, instead of one.

2. I think it would be a bigger event, due to so many Kentucky players being involved.

3. It would not involve having to coordinate with another state. And having to play half the games out of state.

4. Would give more players an opportunity to get additional looks from scouts.

5. I believe it would be good for Kentucky football.

I liked Ram's response and will officially adopt it as mine! Nice job RAM! If it did need to involve another state I think vs. Ohio would be cool.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Ohio already play an all-star game with Pennsylvania? If that is the case, then I doubt they would be interested in playing Kentucky. A game with Ohio would be interesting, though. I would suspect that as the series got started, it would be somewhat lopsided in Ohio's favor at first (the KY-TN game was as well). However, perhaps that could create an even better Kentucky High School football program in time simply from the increased competition.

An East-West game would be interesting, but I think the bulk of the talent lies on the east side of the state, so I would think that the East would pretty much own this game.

Then make it a north vs south game....with Lexington being with the south and Louisville with the north!!

How about a team of all-stars from, for instance, 6A and 5A schools versus a team of all-stars from the smaller classes, regardless of their geographical locations within the state? Make it so the number of players each team can potentially draw from is about equal ---- you know, level the playing filed.

In an earlier thread an article was published from a newspaper that said the Ohio-Pennsylvania game was going to end with this past season. I don't know if that was speculation or fact, but it looked like Kentucky and Ohio was going to be a possibility.

Didn't the East West game die due to poor attendance? When I played in it, I don't think it was all that well attended, although that may have been caused in part with the timing (I think we played in early August/late July). Perhaps if it was earlier in the summer it would be better attended, and the extreme growth in football popularity in the state would also help attendance. Any old timers know for certain why we stopped having the East West game?

I believe that game was the Big 33 Classic. I thought I heard that it also had been cancelled. I always enjoyed watching that game. There were loads of talent on both squads.

I agree with everything you said. Also the vast majority of kids graduating in any given year do not go on to play anywhere else. It would be nice to give a few more of our own boys a chance to play on center stage one last time.

When I sit and think about it, I think that the East-West game could be competitive. I would rather see the instate game myself than KY vs. some other state.

I think it would make for some competitive games, of course it would have to be split equally depending on the number of schools, so it would depend on where the line would have to be.
