It really should be a good and tight game. I know both coaches were hoping for this draw because if they got beat out, at least, they know that a good friend of theirs is advancing. And in an inside joke to Coach Kelsch and Coach Collins that occassionally check in with BGP, Here is hoping that the Polar Bear mascot doesn't steal adidas gloves.:clap::clap:

$7.00 a game. I will probably stay home for the boys' game. Spending close to $40 after admission and concessions for the whole family, not to count the cost of fuel is a little steep.

You guys want to complain about Mason County, start your own thread. This one is about girls basketball for the 10th region tournament.

Mixture of a team. 3 seniors. 4 juniors 2 freshmen 1 sophomore will see playing time. It was a very tight game and a run in the last minute gave Bracken the victory. Should be an excellent game and either team has a great chance to win. It will be a simple basketball game. Whomever makes the fewest mistakes, hits their free throws and rebounds will win the ball game.

Aaron Bonar, junior playing his first year, came in and gave Thomas fits in the 4th quarter. He is quick, strong and can jump and has that football mentality installed by Coach Teegarden that he ain't backing down from anyone. His defensive play on Thomas in the 4th may have won the game for the Wildcats.

With the obvious advantage inside that they had, why in the world were they shooting 28 3's at halftime?

You could pick out 30 different scenarios on how this plays out and they wouldn't surprise me. Very good and balanced region that should produce some very good first round games. There are 7 teams here that I could see making a run into the championship game. Not saying all 7 have easy roads but they could get hot and have the personnel to make the run. I feel for Nicholas as GRC's pressure with both Rogers is tremendous. That has to give GRC the favorite EXCEPT their draw. They have to play the 6:30 game on Tuesday night, I assume will stay for at least some of the next game, from what I am told a long drive back to Winchester. Get up for school the next day and make the long drive back to Maysville to play Wednesday night. With a system that they run, pressure, run and pressure some more. Might lose some legs on Wednesday night. And then might have to play a Mason County team that will not be out as late even though they play the late game. One thing is in their favor even with the draw. They should be able to rest some of their starters against Nicholas County.

The background behind the goals is much different and will have a slight difference for Mason County, who I assume will get to practice in there some this week at least, while others do not.

They do have good young talent. As mentioned on here earlier, Mason Monroe may be the best freshmen in the region. He absolutely dominated at times. Harrison had to switch to a 1-2-2 which extended to midcourt and commit 3 defenders to the perimeter to shut him down. Which only opened up the baseline and inside game for the rest of the team. He absolutely wore out #23 for Harrison County. Felt bad for the kid. He drew a hard matchup. Garrett Farrell, Timmy Cooper, Nick Jones and Dillion Green are seniors. Three starters. I guess it is four. I think Michael Walsh is only a junior.

Something I thought of tonight and it is a rather odd stat. The Ladycats have won 4 district titles in their 35 years. All 4 coaches were in their first year coaching girls varsity basketball as the head coach when they won it.

Great job by the young men of PC. Great job by the coaching staff. Great job by the student fan section. In 1995, the Wildcats and the Ladycats won the district title. That and 2010 are the only times that has happened.

Gab Kirsch did a great job scoring the games first 8 points including 2 3's right in front of Nicholas County's bench. Set the tone early in a game that Nicholas scored a lone point in the first quarter. Nicholas came back on the Ladycats, though, as too many turnovers and missed layups in the 2nd quarter gave the Lady Jackets an open door. Nicholas eventually tied it up in the 3rd quarter but strong defense at midcourt on Nichols guards by Gab, Ashton Wolfe and Brittany Wells created 3 straight turnovers. Freshmen Heather Jolley also had a strong game controlling the boards and getting fouled on putbacks. (She had 14 rebounds in Monday's game.) Good overall team win as 10 players played and had moments of key contributions throughout the roster. Congrats to Coach Scott Collins as his Ladycats win the first district championship for PC since 1995 and only the fourth in the 35 years of girls' basketball at PCHS.

Nice job by the Wildcats. They are so deep that there were stretches throughout the game that a different Wildcat took charge. Timmy Cooper had some old fashion 3 point plays in the 1st half and then hit some big 3's from behind the arc in the 2nd. Michael Walsh was a man among boys in the first half. Mason Monroe went through a couple of stretches in the 2nd half that he went and did what he wanted. True team effort throughout the 32 minutes.

The Wildcats won their game versus Deming, too but this is the girls thread. Way to go Ladycats.:D Bench really step up big in the 2nd quarter and ran out to a double digit lead. Seniors and starters salted it away with a strong 3rd quarter.

Not sure how it would affect the regions south of the 10th but if all of CC moved into the 10th, I could see it this way. 37th Highlands, Newport, Dayton, Bellevue, NCC 38th CC, Brossart, Calvary Christian, Scott, Silver Grove 39th Pendleton, Bracken, Augusta, Deming (return of the original 38th) 40th Harrison, Nicholas, Mason, St. Patrick If the Kenton schools leave with the addition of the CC schools, it could play out like this. 37th Newport, NCC, Bellevue, Dayton 38th Highlands, CC, Brossart, Silver Grove 39th Pendleton, Bracken, Augusta, Deming 40th Harrison, Nicholas, Mason and St. Patrick. Not sure they would do that last one in the 38th as Silver Grove does not always field a girl's team and would leave that district with 3 schools. I can see them wanting to keep 5 schools in that district in case Silver Grove does not field a team, the district still has 4 in post season.

If all the CC schools moved into the 10th, that would have to make 2 NKY districts and move 4-5 teams out of the 10th on the southern end.
