Pendleton County 51 Deming 48

Featured Replies

The Wildcats move on and improve to 15-13 (10-9).

Deming falls to 11-16 (7-11).

I've thought all along that this would be a really competitive district.

Seems like a bit of a disappointing season for Deming. I thought most expected a better record and deeper advance into the postseason. The Cats Pause had them 5th in the region in the preseason.

I think I heard Jim Swinford say that Deming had been to the 10th Region tournament for the past three years.

Goes to show that anyone who puts any stock in the Cats Pause pre-season rankings have rocks in their head.

Congrats to Coach Simms and the Cats.

Deming had been to the region 4 years in a row and 5 of the last six. I believe that's the best run in school history.

Nice job by the Wildcats. They are so deep that there were stretches throughout the game that a different Wildcat took charge.

Timmy Cooper had some old fashion 3 point plays in the 1st half and then hit some big 3's from behind the arc in the 2nd.

Michael Walsh was a man among boys in the first half.

Mason Monroe went through a couple of stretches in the 2nd half that he went and did what he wanted.

True team effort throughout the 32 minutes.

Deming seems to have went on a mostly downhill spiral after losing that All A final last year against Calvary Christian. Would like to know what there record has been since that one game. I don't think people realized how much the King's and the rest of the team would miss Garth Grause this season.

It doesn't hurt when the 2 best teams in the district draw each other either, which had happened the last 3 or 4 years...but that is for another thread. Congrats to Coach Simms and the Wildcats!

Whatever!! I think Deming has done pretty good over the past few years. With what 115 kids in their school. What's Harrison Co. got? Let's not forget the District finals from last years and the wonderful calls Harrison Co. got down the stretch to win it. Your very own Coach Reitz said he was embarrassed to win it that way. But lets not letthis thread get away from what its meant to and talk about tonights game. It was a very good game that went down to the last possession. Both teams left it on the floor tonight and Pendleton co. came out on top. Congrats to Pendleton and Coach Sims and his staff. Good Luck the rest of the postseason.

Pendleton Co. 13-09-18-11-51

Deming 14-07-14-13-48

Pendleton Co. (15-13) -- Walsh 12, Ferrell 5, Monroe 12, Jones 2, Cooper 15, Greene 5.

Deming (11-16) -- K. King 19, L. King 14, Schlach 3, Caldwell 2, Earlywine 2, Pilosky 2, Stitt 6.

The King twins were solid as expected. Look for a big year from Deming in 10/11 as the core will be back.

This game set a record for walking calls on both teams. One official in particular wanted everyone to know he was there.

As someone who isn't familiar with the region, the Cats Pause preseason ranking is about all you can go on. It showed that expectations were pretty high. And when that team loses its district opener then it appears they were a bit of a disappointment.
