3A region 4 will be pretty loaded with good LB's next season with Davis from Ashland, Tacket and Johnson from JC. And if i remember right Lawrence Co has a good one, not sure if he graduated or not though?

What about the 2 from Johnson Central? Tackett and Johnson, they both have good size and pretty good speed from what I've seen personally. Any body else have any info on them?

The way Ashland has been playing lately has really impressed me. With Wilcox back, and other players stepping up i like Ashland in the one. 61-54

The only team i have seen personally who i think should be in the top 20 is Mason Co. They came to Ashland and took care of business, then went to Laurel Co and played great and almost beat the #1 team. They are young this year but have some great talent in Miller and Turner. Now i don't know about top 15 or 10 material.

Ashland seemed to play well tonight. Mcdavid had a monster of a game. Way to go TCATS!

This is where that tough schedule comes into play. If you play a lot of bad teams and aren't really tested and you don't go through some adversity, you won't grow, mature, and improve as a team. I really like what Flynn has done with this schedule. Playing some of the tougher teams in the state and seeing all these good players and having to make adjustments to stay with them only helps you throughout the year. And come tourney time the TCATS will be ready!

Ashland returns 1 LB, both corners either started or saw a lot of playing time, FS, 1 Dlineman. The secondary wasn't hit hard but the D line and Linebackers lost 6 of the 8 starters.

What teams will have tough defenses in EKY next season?

The other running back with Blume last year was really impressive, Grimm maybe? He is very quick, knows how to follow his blockers and can make people miss.

Pugh from Paintsville is the best returning Quarterback I've seen personally. He's just a playmaker.

Are you tlking about the best returning players, or the strongest returning players?

Wasn't Paintsville's QB Pugh just a junior last season. If so I would definitely put him up there with some of the leading candidates. He is very athletic, and throws a great ball and can run. He also plays DB and returns punts.

Ashland has a duels match tomorrow night against Fairland. Should be a good indicator to see how their season will be this year. I think they fill most weight classes. Their 145-189 are very solid IMO. Loaded with talent and experience.

I'll start by saying St. Xaviers Vic Anderson is definitely going to be in the mix. He's got all the tools that you want in a great RB, and puts up great #'s.

I just got in from watching O Cath beat DeSales and I saw Russell two or three times this season. O Cath has a hurry up spread offense, they hired tony Franklin to work with. They do not huddle and usually have the ball snapped with 18-15 secs left on play clock, just wears opposing defenses down. Their running back #2, I think is name is Houston is quick and runs hard. They also have a safety with i think 15 interceptions on the year, Winklepleck?

Russell also has had trouble with the pass most of the year, O Caths wide recievers are excellent. And they have a great Quarterback in Woodward who and get them the ball. He loves to throw it up and let his athletic wide receivers go get it or outrun the defense and get under it. Just too much for Russell.

Johnson Centrals linebackers Tackett and Johnson may be the best tandem in the state. Both have the size and athleticism to be forces, and will bring the wood.

Having seen both teams play i have to give the edge to O Cath. Their speed and athleticism is tremendous. They have playmakers all over the field and i don't think Russell has the amount of athletes to hang with them. Their hurry up offense will wear down Russell like it did Fort Cambell and they should win pretty handily. O Cath-31 Russell-7

I think Ashlands O Line will be greatly improved next year. They were young last year, and most had limited playing experience. This year we have 3 returning (Walters, Snodgrass, Cordle) with 2 or 3 more who so extensive playing time this year (Dixon, Parsley, Dillon).

Matt used to play QB freshman year, even though he was 2nd string he was pretty solid. Throws a good ball.
