tcat25 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 What teams will have tough defenses in EKY next season?
Brewsky Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Belfry's D should be strong... They return 3 db's, 1 lb, and 3 DL. Many others started 1 or 2 games and have substantial experience.
jumperfootball Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Somerset's defense should be strong next year. We return an inside and an outside linebacker, 3 defensive lineman, and two defensive backs. Not to mention several players that split time with some of our starters this season. The defense definitely did not get hit as hard as the offense.
JC Alumni 76 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 The JC defense should be a very solid defense come next year returning 8 starters. In the beginning of last season i thought that they were very suspect to the pass but in the end of the season they were a very solid group holding its last two passing QB Ian Holbrook of Ashland and Sergent of Mason Co. to 81 and 61 yds passing respectively. The secondary returns all 3 positions in Craig Hampton at CB, Tommy Taylor at CB, Ian Welch at Safety. The Linebackers for JC will be its strong point with possibly the best linebacker tandom in the mountains returning in Micheal Tackett and Blake Johnson. The D-line took a hit to graduation losing senior Derrick Flinchum and senior Scott Parrigan which starting late in the season after coming back from a back injury. Returning on the line will be both defensive ends Shawn Grimm and Cody Conley. The Interior line will return only Ryan Baldwin. Overall JC has a very solid group of playes coming back off a defense that was improving weekly. The will probably be JC's strong point next season instead of its high octane offense this past year that was fueled by Ron Blume the state's leading rusher.
Nothingbutnet Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Ashland had a pretty good D last year. Does anyone know what they have coming back this year??
tcat25 Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 Ashland returns 1 LB, both corners either started or saw a lot of playing time, FS, 1 Dlineman. The secondary wasn't hit hard but the D line and Linebackers lost 6 of the 8 starters.
MOUNTAINFOOTBALL Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Does anyone know what Pikeville has coming back on defense? They better learn how to defend the pass if they want to bring the regional title back to Pikeville.

ukbellco14 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Bell County is always solid defensively.... next season will be no different with alot of young talent returning and a defensive unit led by LB Brent Slusher.
Log Mountain Boy Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Rock will, Im sure have a great defense next year. They always do. Bell will have a good defense too. It will be interesting with the sophomore class coming up to see who will play both ways with that group. Bell has some great athletes coming up!
Oldcat95 Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 That Brent Slusher kid, will be unreal next year, I have a feeling. :fire:
