Are there any true "big men" in the mountains? I would consider a big man over 6'6".......

If you go by that logic then Central beat East Carter and Boyd County, who both beat Russell and we did beat Lawrence County at home. I think Central is on parr with most mountain teams....Hazard is probably a little more athletic, but I think that its not impossible that Central could not beat Hazard or Russell.

Excellent Point! JC has been very competetive when they are able to control the tempo. We play better when its a slow game and we can set up our offense. If we can keep the score low, under 60, we might have a chance, but we must slow the game down and play the best defense we have ever played. When teams run on us and we try to run with them we tend to get out run.

I was probably one of the most vocal opponents to moving the region tournament to the Expo. Center. I was impressed with the facility and the overall atmosphere of the tournament. I won't go so far as to say "never move it". But I will say that the first year was quite nice and I did like it very much. Keep it there for now and we'll continue this discussion next year after the tournament.

I'll be there hoping to see my Golden Eagles slip on that glass slipper and take the role of the "Cinderella Team". Nobody expects anything from them, or any other team from the east, so they have nowhere to go but up. Good Luck to All Mountain Teams! Make the region proud.

I really think that the Region could be won by any of the teams. I've said from the beginning it was anybodies to take and with all the district runner-ups winning in the first round kind of proves it. My pick from the heart is Johnson Central but I think that Belfry probably has to be in the best position.

I don't know???? This is why I think it should remain as it always has been. Rotating from school to school. I think each year they should maintain the rotation and let each school who is hosting have the option of holding at their school or at the Expo Center.

That would be great, but it'll never happen as long as the championship is played in Pike County. It would be more likely to be an all Pike County championship........if you get my drift.

I was down by the field last night and they just finished sodding the infield and in front of the backstop and dugouts. I guess they put an irrigation system in the infield because the lights were on and looked like they were working on something. They took up the old brick dust and brought in red clay. The field looked absolutely awesome.

The radio said that tip-off is at 7:00pm, but I'd get there early. Its going to be a packed house.

I heard from a board member back in the fall that the 5 year plan is that Johnson Central have both its baseball and football facilities upgraded with new stadiums. The sun problem is one of the prime reasons for the new baseball stadium along with its deterioration. They are also looking to build an indoor practice facility to be used by all sports with a 50 yard football field very similar to the one Corbin has. From what I understand a few of the board member toured it and were impressed with that facility. Things are definately looking bright at JCHS. The other fields being constructed are for the new Johnson County Babe Ruth leagues.

Johnson Central plays a good game and wins over a talented Pike Central team. Congratulations to the Golden Eagles on a big region win.

Both of these teams are very Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. If the two teams that play to their potential show-up then this will be a game for the ages. If either one of their evil twin shows, it could be an embarrassment. But, I hope, the rivalry will bring out the best of both teams. JC by 2!

This district is wide open this year. The region tournament is going to be fun!

I look for Blake Johnson, LB and FB at Johnson Central, to have a phenominal year in 2006. He recently had his shoulder repaired that would pop out on him every other play. He for all practical purposes played one armed last year. With 2 good shoulders to lay the wood on people with I think you will see how aggressive this kid really is.

I'm pretty sure that the 57th Tournament is drawn and not seeded.

I agree! SC should be very good next year. But I'm not sure they will suprise anyone after this years performance.
