Question about some of the big recruits across the nation?

Featured Replies

I noticed when i was watching ESPN U's National Signing Day that some of the recruits where currently attending the college that they had chose to play football for. Does some of the other states graduate kids in the winter as well as in the spring/summer? I was just curious as to why they can play football one semester and then attend college the next?

Its becoming more and more common for high school footballers to graduate in December from their high school so that they can enroll at the university for the 2nd semester and then participate in spring practice. I don't think its a state-by-state issue. I'm assuming all states allow this.

Will Fidler did this and is now at UK.

Yes, if you have met all your credits by the time your first semester as a senior in high school is over, then you can graduate early and enroll at college.

Okay i just hadnt heard to much about it. Makes sense, if the kid already has the credits, no point in not allowing them to go onto college. Thanks for clearing that up. Just thought that it may have been a state by state thing cause hadnt heard of to many kids from Kentucky doing it.

But doesn't the kid miss out on the rest of his senior activities like Prom, spring break, etc.? I'm sure there are pros and cons but you never get that senior year back and IMO you just miss out on a lot of school things.

Jeremy Sheffey from Boyd Co. graduated early his senior year and went through Spring Ball at WVU and still was able to attend his senior prom and graduation.

Now he just finished up his Junior year at WVU and was All Big East this past season and has started at Right Guard for the past two years on WVU's offensive line.

He enters his senior year this coming season and will be a pre-season All Big East and All American candidate. He has a possible pro career ahead of him.

I'd say graduating early didn't hurt him or his future.

That is correct!

You are correct.

You get Spring Break in college.

College is usually out by the time prom rolls around, so if you're invited by your sweet heart, that's not an issue.
