Does anyone have anything on the Hornets search for a new football coach? Have they interviewed anyone or are they looking at anyone closely?

I was told yesterday that Coach Snyder at Marshall has offered his old high school coach a job coaching ends. My buddy also said that as a result of Coach Lutz resigning that all but 3 football coaches have quit, and most every other coach for nearly all of the sports at the school. I guess the people in Ironton are calling for Parker's head on a platter and have called a special board meeting at Tank's Memorial Stadium for next week.

I think most people who spoke with their head and not their heart would have agreed that Ron was really not a D1 athlete. Huge heart, awesome skills and a great kid, but his size is a huge limitation. I think he would rather go to a school where he can make an impact instead of going to UK and possibly never seeing any PT.

I have a good friend that played for Lutz, was an all american, and went to OSU. He was telling me about all of this several months ago when AD-Parker hired the 3 assistant coaches without his input. The post that you quoted is exactly what happened. Since Parker has became AD at Ironton he has run-off an awesome basketball coach in Zorn (former Boyd County coach who took Ironton to the state championship in his first couple of years only to lose to OJ Mayo's NCH team) and now a legend football coach. I guess thats why he did'nt have any comments as the paper stated. His actions had spoken volumes.

I heard he had signed with Capital University in Columbus, OH. They're a D3 school. He said the fact that he will get to play immediately led him to go there. Also, his father lives in Columbus.

I think even the coaching staff are still working on this one. There are some holes to fill. The good thing is that there were a few good surprises that came out of spring practice. If a few of the young kids work hard in the off season and hit the weights, we have the potential to be much larger and stronger than last years line. Its really to early to tell. Ask this question again the first week on August after camp.

I stopped by and watched practice a few times and the Dials kid is an impressive athlete. He has good speed, great size, is strong as an ox and has great hands. He will definately help out both offensively and defensively. Central really has some nice looking kids out for spring ball. They have the potential to have a great season next year. The Welch kid has been working at QB and has looked pretty good for having only played the position since spring ball started.

Johnson Central has a couple of good ones returning. 2nd Team All State fullback, Blake Johnson and TB, Shawn Grimm.

I heard from a friend of mine that is in the know concerning the administration in Magoffin County, that they have been in contact with Chuke Williams. I believe he may have started the program their. I think he would be reasonable successful.

How is spring practice going for the Golden Eagles? Does anyone have any info.?

Final, J-town 68, Johnson Central 49. Not a bad showing by a much smaller JC team. I think they played closer than most thought they would. Congratulations Eagles on a great season. Some young player definately stepped up and showed they can play. Congratulation J-town! Excellent basketball team.

Sounds like the freshman Ian Welsh is playing an awesome game, something like 7 straight steals. There is hope in the future at JC!
