Things are getting really interesting in the 57th. With Johnson Central losing to Lawrence County, the standings have reallt tightened up. IMO, the most important game thus far in determining the final seeds takes place on February 3 when Sheldon Clark visits Lawrence County. If Lawrence County wins they have a really good shot at the number three seed in the district. They have already finished their season series with both Paintsville and Johnson Central while Sheldon Clark plays Paintsville one more time on Feb 10. Also, if things fall in Lawrence County's favor they could end up as high as the number two seed. They hold wins over Paintsville and Johnson Central. So, if LCHS defeats Sheldon Clark, which ever team loses the next meeting will be tied with Lawrence County. And, I believe in that case the seeding is determined by a coin flip.

Sheldon Clark is also in a nice position. If the Cards defeat Lawrence County a three-way tie will exist at the top of the district. Plus, Sheldon Clark also has one game left with Paintsville at home. If they were to pick up that win as well, things would really get interesting.

I know it's still early but the LCHS win over JCHS got me thinking.

Right now I believe Lawrence is playing something 8 or 9 straight home games which could help this team gel better. Up until last week they played only 3 or 4 home games.

One question I thought they drew for the district, did they switch to seeding when Lawrence came in or did they switch before?

They used to draw for the pairings....but they have been seeding for a while, not sure just how long. They still use the draw for baseball though.

As balanced as the 57th is this year and as unpredictable as the teams play from night to night, I don't think it really matters which teams get matched up in the district. They can all win on a given night!

I'm pretty sure that the 57th Tournament is drawn and not seeded.

I think they used to use that format but now with the addition of Lawrence Co. it makes 5 teams in the district i would assume they would go to a seed with the 1st seed getting a bye or the 4th and 5th seeds playing a play-in game.
