Yeah, I heard the rumor about Henley, too. I think he would have been a possibility in April or May but not now (but I still heard it again a few days ago).

Make up your mind, first he wasn't fired because of excessive absenses but he was there only a handful of days after March? That would be something like 50 days missed. I don't think so. If he missed any days, it was in May after being released from the basketball job at the end of April. If he was there 10 days in May, it's 10 more than I would have been there. Also, he wasn't told ANY reason for being let go from basketball, not sure how you know any of this. Another thing, he did finish out the year as far as I know, so he did fulfill his contract.

Their AD (Seiter) has been coaching them at the Newport league on Thursday nights. He was a coach before and is doing more than just sitting on the bench and supervising. Could he be taking over? I would think it's a possibility considering it will be next to impossible to find someone now. How do you not fill a position over a four month period?

You guys (some of you) are trying to tell me that this DOESN'T hurt Holmes? You've got to be kidding me! This will completely change the way teams defend them. He is one of the best shooters in the region and gave them a great threat from the outside. On top of that, they DON'T have another shooter like him and they WILL lose a few games this season because of their lack of a perimeter game.

Nice post but....."animal marking his territory"....:confused: :laugh: For not knowing the coach, you are dead on. It was a total bush league move and everyone knows it. Trying to gain a mental edge with tactics like this are totally different than putting on a play that is within the rules of the game. It's common sense folks. Like was stated earlier, the coaches come to expect it and (if they're smart) choose to ignore it. Also, the call at third which caused BW's coach to argue was a bad call. HC's coach was on the field before time was called as well arguing the runner advancing. All in all, HC picked up an out it shouldn't have had---they have no argument on that one.

I would still disagree with that. Just my opinion.

When it comes to being a head coach it counts for absolutely nothing. One of the best coaches in the northern part of Kentucky didn't play past freshmen ball in high school (I'm sure there are others with similar pasts) and conversely there are those who did play far beyond that and are not among the best.

If you've ever been in a high school (which you have) you know that rumors get spread quickly and most of them are wrong. Kids will say anything and run with stories or rumors whether they are true or not. Your 40 days estimate can not possibly be accurate. I can check on this but as far as I know at the time of his being released in March, he was under his 10 absences.

I'd say that the attendance issue was not a major issue until AFTER he was released. I know if I was fired and then told that I had to keep working there for three more months that I would not be a happy camper (especially the way they handled this situation---which is the realy issue---with the basketball part of it). That's why in the business world we have "2-weeks notice", not "3-months notice".

Accumulated from several very good sources... 1. Wolfzorn was not hired back, along with several others, as a teacher by the principal which apparently is a yearly occurance at the high school but, none the less, his decision. 2. Wolfzorn was told that he was still the basketball coach---apparently this was in early March--and it was his intent to stay on as the coach. Several of the DIII schools in NKY have non-teachers or teachers not at their school as head coaches (Beechwood, Silver Grove, Calvary) so this wouldn't have been a problem. Tough to get teaching positions to fit all coaches at small schools sometimes. 3. No one that I spoke to knows of any relationship between the AD and coach as a relative (I don't know). 4. There is a definite parent issue (one incident took place which may be fueling these rumors) but not sure of the extend to their involvement here. 5. I believe he was not released as coach until right before the April 30 deadline and I'm guessing it was by letter and not a sticky note but no reasons were given to the coach as to why. So, with that said, the principal made his decision about the teaching and that's his to make. However, did Wolfzorn become a poor coach during March and April? What would make them get rid of a guy who WANTS to be there when they have had trouble keeping coaches there? He was a good coach and did a heck of a job this year turning that team around in the second half of the year (I witnessed the Beechwood/Bellevue game late in the year and they nearly pulled off an upset).

Anyone have an update on the status of this job?

The KHSAA website has the Birds at 3-6 but that isn't counting 2 wins and 1 loss in the Doc Morris. They're 5-7.

I heard he was yanked for questioning his coaches calls, not because the game is not life or death.

Thanks for the clarification.:thumb: So, HHS should give them a chance to get back in the game. You're missing the point. HHS has no clue how many runs it takes to win a game. When you're in a tournament you want to use the least amount of pitchers possible. If you can "finish" a team in 5 innings, you do it PERIOD. HHS did it, deal with it. For the record, I can't believe people are complaining about HHS running up the score in baseball.

You're showing your baseball (and Beechwood) knowledge when you basically are saying that Beechwood can't explode for 10 or 12 runs at any time. I've seen it many, MANY times. They're a very good team who was playing a trap game.

Interesting, I thought JV games were played at different locations than Varsity games. How could they play both?

Hasn't Neumann played for a long time? He did start, correct? I think Allen's their "ace", although I'm not sure they really have one. The Rawlings kid hasn't pitched in 4 weeks so I seriously doubt he's their "ace".

This isn't a rivalry? Someone fill me in on this one. The crowds, student sections, success of each program, close games, etc. I thought this was one of the top rivalries in the area but haven't been many of the match-ups over the past few years. Was I wrong? Are UNC and UK natural rivals? No. But the chase of the all-time wins record and the success of the two programs dictates that it is. When they've played in the past few seasons I would say that it was a pretty big game and a rivalry---granted, not like UK/IU or UK/UL or Duke/UNC but in another way.

Are you serious? You blow that big of a lead in the last 4 minutes and all you can do is blame the refs and the fact that the game was at Holy Cross?!?! WOW!!!

Wight would average a double-double on a top 5 team in the region, he is a great point guard with unbelieveable range. Kilgore must have been off because he can flat out shoot the ball. Vories is a heck of a player and he is surrounded by a group of athletes that can score, rebound, and defend. Very few weaknesses on that team. Good to see Bellevue hung in there with the big boys and were competitive.
