Yes, because BW doesn't play any strong programs outside of our district. They just coast through season after season never scheduling any real out-of-district competition. For the record, I believe they are certainly headed in a positive direction. Of course, I also agree with 75 in that they just had came off a 2 and 9 record 2 seasons ago. Let's not go putting them in the Top 5. They may be in the Top 5 right now, but how about they stay there for at least two consecutive years before we go putting the "Top Program" moniker on them.

That may be true. I can only go by the stories I heard both on and off the field and my first-hand experiences. I will not add any detail or evidence because that goes against the very positive nature of this thread. It was certainly a great gesture on his part and he deserves the kudos.

This is good to hear because its certainly in direct opposition to the Ethan we heard about a year ago. Ethan has done a great deal of growing up. I believe this started with Bob Mullins in Basball and has continued to the football field. It's great to see a tremendous athlete realize that its about more than them. Sounds like he truly get's it.

I think I have to disagree with your assessment on the number of players, but I can I can agree with your Bottom Line. I do realize that Beechwood has a lot of depth, I just don't think we take advantage of it as much as we should. Should be great weather.

Really? Do you think Beechwood is slow? Might be the fastest Beechwood team in quite a while. I would go so far as to say that their Defensive Backfield is in the Top 5 of NKY for Speed. They may lose to Dixie, but it won't be Speed that beats them. If Moore makes poor decisions, I expect the Beechwood Defense to have a bigger night than CCH's.

What? Sorry, while I wish this was true, it just isn't. Until Thomas got hurt, There were at least 5 players playing both ways. Most of them were Full-time. There are a number of others that play enought to be exhausted in the heat the other night. The injury forced them to mix it up a bit more and I think that will carry over this week.

I agree that we will have to see, but in your opinion, what moves Beechwood Down? Does a loss to a decent 6A program (Dixie) move them down?

No doubt. There's no need for Play by Play. I'm there watching it. Just give me the facts and let me know when the burgers are ready in the concession stand. That's IT!. I was watching a Middle School game at Beechwood a couple of years ago. Whoever it was drove me nuts. Not just play by play, but color commentary between plays. I have no issue with the First Down and Touchdown calls, but the play by play has to go. I think he thought he was funny and everyone love him. Daryl Evans, the current varsity Beechwood announcer and his spotting crew do a great job.

You are quite the conspiracy guy. The whole world is not a bunch of corporate republican fat cats hiding things. My guess is that the Boosters and Educational Foundation financial reports are available to members. If it required a FOIA act, I doubt anyone would have been provided for an interview. They would have simply provided the paperwork and documentation and let the guy try to decipher it for himself. Also, since the Boosters and Education Foundation are separate organizations/charities, they are not subject to FOIA. While there are exceptions, it only applies to Publicly funded organizations. Athletic Boosters and foundations I have been involved with are not legally tied to the school and are independent 501c's.

When I posted that I already new the justification for providing funds for the scoreboard. I said that "in my opinion" you don't mix the money. It may not be the case, but in most normal schools, you really mess with your fundraising abilities when it appears you have used the money for something outside of the Charter you used to raised the funds. I understand what you are saying and it definitely sounds like a great opportunity for some students. Unfortunately, reality doesn't matter. Perception is everything. You know the justification and if you are comfortable with then that is all that matters. You all are in a unique position. Your donors may not care one way or another. They just want to give to Highlands. Certainly a great place to be. I believe that we have a similar thing at Beechwood. I stand by what I said. You don't mix the money. It's why the government has you state your Charter/Purpose when you apply for 501c. You have to be careful not to drift from that stated purpose.

From a Beechwood perspective. everything in the article is emailed monthly to all boosters. I saw nothing negative in the article. As for the education foundation paying for the scoreboard, that is a huge mistake in my opinion. When I give money to a "educational" foundation, I expect it to go to education. Sounds like there's a little too close of a relationship between the Boosters and the FTEF.

Shows how little you are paying attention. Running clocks typically occur in district games and most often in 1st and 2nd round playoff games. I can't recall any running clock with Beechwood outside of those.

Just like the field goal that wasn't in regulation that tied it up, the ref signaled it a catch and score! Done.

Plays too many sports to spend any time working out. He's a bit taller than last season, but no real size difference. At least nothing like the other 3 sophomore standouts. Of course, I don't think he has even turned 15 yet, so still a lot of growing left to do. He does have a strong arm.
