  1. :thumb: Don't cry. Suck it up and play harder. A little humility builds character.
  2. Any Connecticut high school football coach who runs up the score in a game now runs the risk of being suspended. The football committee of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, the state board that governs high school sports, has adopted a "score management" policy to keep teams from winning by more than 50 points. The rout is considered an unsportsmanlike infraction and, beginning this fall, the head coach of the offending team will be disqualified from coaching the next game Thoughts? http://www.boston.com/news/local/connecticut/articles/2006/05/24/connecticut_group_flags_high_school_routs/
  3. Yup...That's the key. "IF" everyone returns, they have the most talent. If everyone doesn't, the team may be better off though. :sssh: Everyone knows that there is a power struggle on that team because of how selfish they play, especially in big games, where one player is hitting everything, yet another player wants the ball in his hands down the stretch instead of doing what's best for the team. And it all ends the same way, losing.
  4. Surely that politics at Hazard will not force Spurlock out. What does it take for this guy to get a vote of confidence? What's wrong? Isn't Dr. Cooper happy with him?
  5. Somebody please hurry and put Paintsville at the top for next season...The Tigers have been the most overrated team in the region the bast 3 years. Two years in with the current team that is suppose to return the program to the "glory days"...0-2 in the 15th Region tournament.
  6. Looks like Magoffin Co. represented the 15th Region well...playing a tough team like E-town close.
  7. Play was stopped in the first half and she was helped to the bench and looked like she was done for. 2 minutes later, she's back on the court and hasn't missed a beat and never slowed down. :irked: Later in the game she took a hard knock and fell, took her blessed time getting back up to the playing court and the officials charged Butcher a timeout because of it.
  8. Oh, I agree. This is a tough opening round game for Magoffin County to win. I would also have to say it's a tough opening round game for E-Town as well. These two teams have one common opponent, Louisville Eastern. E-Town beat them by 15 this season, Magoffin beat'em by 16. :creepy: I wouldn't take too much into the Lady Hornets game with Pike Central last week. The officials did all they could to keep that game close. Magoffin was without a doubt a superior team to Pike Central. And I really believe that Ashley J. Howard could get looks from mid-majors, if recruiters are not afraid to take a chance on someone from East Kentucky coming to their school and sticking it out.
  9. Should pick up a win or two at state...Very impressive showing by Magoffin County...Good luck Lady Hornets!
  10. Fleming 30 for SV Ratliff 28 for PC
  11. Magoffin 10+ Pike Central's coach "used up" Ratliff last night just to get past Shelby Valley and Fleming. Magoffin is poised to win tonight, and a few games down state I hope.
  12. I think it will have somewhat of a positive effect for Johnson Central. Also, I think playing shooting at the Expo Center may help the Golden Eagles as well and playing on the larger floor. If anything, J-town or Ballard will not take Johnson Central seriously. That, more than anything, should help the Golden Eagles.
  13. Final seconds, SV has the basketball with a chance to tie or win with a 3 pointer. Ball is inbounded to Jacob Bryant, who slid at the top of the key to a knee, kept his dribble until hands from the Johnson Central defense reached in and Bryant called a timeout that he didn't have. The official gave him the timeout. The other two officials immediately took notice that SV didn't have anymore timeouts to take. Technical foul shots were taken by Whitaker, who knocked down 1 of 2. Johnson Central got the ball back and that was basically it. Congrats to Johnson Central and Mark Starnes. Represent the region well!. :thumb: It's going to be interesting to see how this team reacts to shooting in Rupp after a week at the Expo Center.
  14. Try 22-35 for Johnson Central while Betsy Layne shot 6-15. :irked: That's not to make excuses for Betsy Layne. B. Case for Betsy Layne missed FT's that should've sealed it up for the Bobcats. And of course, the Bobcats gave the game away late in the OT, with no pressure on the inbounds and an open layup on the other end for Fannin.
  15. Thacker and his foul trouble was a big difference. Also, JC having 30 FT's didn't hurt either.
  16. Hopefully both Coach Booher & Coach Starnes can silent some critics tonight. Hopefully a win by Starnes will get more numbers out for JC next season.
  17. I understand the tournament will be held at the Expo Center for the next 5 years if an agreement can be reached. If so, then I think the region is moving in the right direction. Paid attendance for the first night of Boys action: 3,300 Paid attendance for the second night of Boys action: 3,500. Girls paid attendance slipped to 1,500 on Wednesday. However, 1,500 fans at Johnson Central H.S. would be considered a full house.
  18. The last 4 region winners have come from the 59th District. Look out BL, JC and Belfry...
  19. Those who are saying that "Paintsville is still young" need to read Legaer's post closely. Excellent point! How long do you continue to make excuses for the Tigers? The most overrated team in the region. Without Slone last night, they wouldn't have had a prayer. Why didn't Slone get a good look down the stretch? Amazing! He was the only player that did anything for Paintsville last night. My final question is: How long will it take before we see a "Paintsville will win the 15th Region" thread again? I'm guessing mid April. Any takers?
  20. 7 total seniors and "all" of there starters were seniors. It was tough to watch Sean Leslie at the end. He left it on the court, he did the best he could. Good luck Sean in the future.
  21. I'm going with Prestonsburg in this one. Too much Leslie and Barnette for the Pirates to handle.
  22. I think your quote should be directed to Johnny Martin at Allen Central, because that's what is happening to him. I understand that Coach Rose may be walking away after this season to seek a principal's position within the county. He is currently assistant principal at BLHS.
  23. As long as they can deal with the controversy, then that's all right I guess. I wasn't at this game last night, I was just wondering about the officials in general. I will say this though, if it was a good "no call" then fine. However, if there should've been a foul, why don't officials call the game the same throughout despite what the clock may say?
  24. Another WOW. :scared: Why didn't the region trade out with another?
  25. :scared: Great win for the Lions and their young team. What region is officiating these games in the 16th?
