Your post are usually full of knowledge and great insight, but this is the craziest statement I've ever read on BGP period. Duff and Walker should be officiating YMCA games.

Knott Central has vastly improved their gym from the dungeon it used to be. New lights and a resurfaced floor looked great. I think Hindman is the best place for the tourny considering that it is a semi-central location for teams from the 13th & 15th. I do agree that this year's teams were a little weak, yet most of the games were close, and that's probably what the tournament selection guys were looking for. How did Phelps rank being on WYMT twice this season, once in football and then the classic? Where was Clay County this season? I wouldn't have a problem with tournament rotating locations such as the Civic Center and the London area, but that means a long trip for somebody. It would be easier to rotate the site if the tournament was held during Christmas Break, when teams could stay in Pikeville or London at least overnight.

Great effort by both ballclubs - nobody could miss it seemed at times. SF shot 85% from the FT line...PCC 74% I believe. Tyler Bailey was huge...Justin Stacey huge defensively late with a block on SF's Mason Hall on what could've been a game winning 3 pointer in the 2nd OT.

:laugh: I'm sure I would make more money at either of those jobs than I do now and probably get on your nerves more. I just totally disagree. Raider players acting like NBA thugs on the floor help to instigate actions by fans in the stands. The players should display better sportsmanship and set the example - period. Doesn't matter what other teams do to you, walk away and leave them looking like fools. But you are right about one thing: it's water under the bridge. And as long as the players come out, suck it up and play hard, the past will stay in the past. :thumb:

I'm one of the biggest Raiders supports you will find so trust me it's hard to admit it. If Prestonsburg had played the way they did last night earlier this season, they would have at least 3 or 4 more wins coming into last night's contest.

The kids hands are not tied. If they had played defense early in the contest, the events in the second half such as technicals and a tighter blown whistle wouldn't have occurred. Stop shaking your heads at calls and talking to officials - just suck it up and play the game the best you can and leave it on the court. And when you walk away a winner, nobody can take that away from you.

Mr. Wallen and the other official done their best to keep this game under control. South Floyd's reputation precedes them every game, as evidence of the police that were at the contest. Why all the attention and probation? Cheap shots on opposing players and mouth offs by the Raiders players over calls by the officials. Anybody see E. Johnson roll Hughes end over end during the first half with no foul? Anybody see T.J. Hall hit a Prestonsburg player as play went the other way in the first half with no call by the official? T.J Hall would later hit the deck and was knocked out for a few seconds late in the game as I heard a SF fan say, "You missed that one ref." Missed what? Hall ran into his own player! Yes, the Raiders couldn't get into the flow of the game because of the whistle in the 3rd quarter, but by then, the game was over. Prestonsburg took care of business early and maintained their lead throughout as SF gambled, letting the Blackcats have clean looks from the outside and they took advantage of it, shooting 7-14 from 3 point range in the first half. By the time the Raiders switched defense, the game had been blown wide open. BTW - the whistle was affecting Prestonsburg just as much as South Floyd in the 3rd...Leslie and Barnett both had 4 fouls in the 3rd, but I don't believe SF fans noticed this. To SF players/fans, the world is not against you, rise to the challenge and take some pride in yourself. Play hard and don't let "the man" get you down. Better yet, don't give "the man" a reason to come down on you.

I wasn't supporting Jackson City's manner of winning; just stating that their games that season were probably the record setters for largest margin of victory. :thumb: As for supporting SV and praising their efforts as you are accusing me and others on here for doing - plain and simple, the David School knew what they were getting into when they asked to be members of the KHSAA. If their students want athletics at their school and want to play on the same level, then by George let them rise to the challenge the best way they know how. Maybe the players were tired of playing JV teams from Floyd County High Schools and wanted to play games that count? It's unfortunate that scores involving the David School are the way they are, however, they asked to play and they shall receive. And as long as they try their best, then that will make them better players and sportsmen.

It all hinges on how South Floyd responds to the probation charges that the school was placed on earlier this week by the BOE. If the Raiders can play with cooler heads and take care of business then I say the Raiders by 5 or more. However, if Prestonsburg and their fans are able to "get into" SF's heads and cause problems, then I'll say Prestonsburg takes the cake.

:lol: He did. Starnes was knocked by on the sidelines as players were scrapping after the basketball. Rice did not play for JC. I wondered why Starnes elected to bring back Meeks and McCarty late in the 4th quarter with a huge lead and risk injury. :confused:

I don't see anybody crying over Jackson City on this thread... Jackson City defeated Millersburg Academy by 108 points in 1992 (final score JC 180 - MC 72). Also that same season, Jackson City defeated Woodbridge Academy by 187 points, (final score JC 215 - WA 28!). In 1996 Eastern defeated Doss 156-70 for an 86 point victory. I'm sure there are other examples of this out there if you dig around. David knows about Goliath. :thumb:

And last night's JBS/AC game was a perfect example, whether you will admit to the facts or not. :sssh: The really sad part is this - That the politics surrounding JBS and the Stepps only has a reach as far as the end of Route 899 at Pippa Passes. Their power doesn't extend on out to Highway 160 where the Patriots of Knott Central call home, just ask any fan of previous district/regional tournaments held inside that small area between those teams. :thumb:

I have to say it "was" a factor in the contest. AC never could get into any sort of rhythm offensively due to Garrison Collins having his way in the paint defensively. And Clark Stepp did his share of "hooking" players as he drove by them the entire night. At one point, a timeout was called by JBS midway through the 4th quarter when AC caused back-to-back turnovers by a 1-2-1-1 press. The ALC alumnus officiating the contest, was at the far end away from the JBS bench and somehow heard Gary Stepp call a timeout. I was sitting behind Coach Stepp and there was no way the official could've heard it. Even AC coach Johnny Martin looked in disbelief at the whistle being blown. Again, AC lacked intensity the entire night and that was their major downfall. Officials have nothing to do with a team turning the ball over and that's the Rebels main problem, which led to the loss. Yet the officiating was embarrassing.
