21-15 Prestonsburg after the first quarter, and it was all Prestonsburg after that. If Prestonsburg keeps shooting like they did tonight, they are going to be TOUGH for anyone to beat.

Pburg complete took SF apart tonight. SF ran into a Buzz Saw tonight, Pburg was really due for this type of game. They are very well ready to break out, as they did tonight. Credit to Coach Crisp for a great game plan.

Very ugly game for the Raiders, unable to get any thing started thaks to Mr. Wallen and our fine BOE Mr. fanning. Raiders are walking on glass, on probation for recent brawls, two of which were inflamed by a certain P-burg player at our place, but we will overcome later. P-burg shot as well tonight as they have in many moons, everything fell their way. Kids really looked lifeless, it is a shame that something that has become a sense of pride will be turned into a labor that we all wish will be over soon. Well at least somebody else may get that that District Trophy this year.

Please explain what Mr. Fanning had to do with this game. There is "no" excuse for adults getting into brawls, regardless of what happens between players. If parents get into fights and cannot control thier emotions then they should be banned. It is all about attitude, I saw some bad ones tonight. Give Pburg the due credit, they flat took SF apart on the floor. And that is where it really matters.! The refs were typical tonight of what I have seen all season.

His declaration of probation on SF basically has the kids hands tied, they are afraid to play with the enthusiasm and fire that is needed to be successful. Everybody is looking over their shoulder waiting on something to happen and the season is over. As far as the so called "brawls" go, they weren't much of a brawl, the last incident was a boyfriend/girlfriend incident that should have been addressed some place else, but all of us have to pay for a couple of others mistakes.

Mr. Wallen and the other official done their best to keep this game under control. South Floyd's reputation precedes them every game, as evidence of the police that were at the contest.

Why all the attention and probation? Cheap shots on opposing players and mouth offs by the Raiders players over calls by the officials. Anybody see E. Johnson roll Hughes end over end during the first half with no foul? Anybody see T.J. Hall hit a Prestonsburg player as play went the other way in the first half with no call by the official?

T.J Hall would later hit the deck and was knocked out for a few seconds late in the game as I heard a SF fan say, "You missed that one ref." Missed what? Hall ran into his own player!

Yes, the Raiders couldn't get into the flow of the game because of the whistle in the 3rd quarter, but by then, the game was over. Prestonsburg took care of business early and maintained their lead throughout as SF gambled, letting the Blackcats have clean looks from the outside and they took advantage of it, shooting 7-14 from 3 point range in the first half. By the time the Raiders switched defense, the game had been blown wide open.

BTW - the whistle was affecting Prestonsburg just as much as South Floyd in the 3rd...Leslie and Barnett both had 4 fouls in the 3rd, but I don't believe SF fans noticed this.

To SF players/fans, the world is not against you, rise to the challenge and take some pride in yourself. Play hard and don't let "the man" get you down. Better yet, don't give "the man" a reason to come down on you.

The kids hands are not tied. If they had played defense early in the contest, the events in the second half such as technicals and a tighter blown whistle wouldn't have occurred.

Stop shaking your heads at calls and talking to officials - just suck it up and play the game the best you can and leave it on the court. And when you walk away a winner, nobody can take that away from you.

I'm one of the biggest Raiders supports you will find so trust me it's hard to admit it. If Prestonsburg had played the way they did last night earlier this season, they would have at least 3 or 4 more wins coming into last night's contest.

I thought the officials who called this game were as fair as anyone could ask for! They called fouls on both teams, as they occurred, and took time to talk to the players of both teams in order to, what appeared, maintain control. I can't imagine anyone who knows anything about the game objectively criticizing either of these men. They were thrust into a, potentially, extremely volatile environment, and never let it effect their objectivity. They were tested many times, but maintained control throughout.

The foul called on E. Johnson in the 1st half when he clothes-lined Hughes going in for a layup, and ruled an intentional foul was, I believe, very close to being a flagrant foul that would have resulted in an automatic ejection. And it didn't seem that he was the only Raider who wasn't satisfied with playing hard in this game, choosing instead to wear a chip on their shoulders and electing to devote their energy, primarily, to altercations with Blackcat players and in questioning calls made, or not made, by the officials.

One player from each team fouled out in this one but Sean Leslie's 5th foul, coming early in the 4th period, was more damaging to the Blackcats than was Ryan Johnson's 5th foul in the 4th period due, in part, to the fact that Leslie ended up garnering game-high honors with 23 pts. while Johnson had only scored 7 pts. But, simply put, fouls were called as they occurred. :thumb:

I did get a chance to look over the stats and, while you're close, the Blackcats were 7 of 13 from behind the 3-pt. line in the 1st half but were, unfortunately, 0 for 6 in the 2nd half. The Raiders made 6 of 15 from behind the 3-pt. line in the 1st half while ending up making 10 of the 26 they shot for the game. So, while coming out after halftime intent on shutting down the Blackcats' outside shooting, the Raiders were still outscored 15-11 in the 3rd period, allowing the Blackcats too many uncontested inside baskets instead.

Maybe, now that this one's in the books, we can look forward to the next meeting between these teams to be absent so much controversy, both before and during the game. :D I believe there's too much talent on both teams for it not to be decided on the court! :ylsuper: Let's not forget that, while not exactly next door, we are neighbors and should save our disgust for those who still see us both barefoot and dirty! ;)

Lets see, Stark points out some things he saw, how about these- an intentional foul should not be called when an attempt to block a shot is missed, also by rule any players that leave the bench area during the game should receive a technical and possible disqualification- over half the P-burg bench came several steps on the floor during a held ball call, no call. Also, E.Johnson was on the end of a double foul call when he was slammed to the floor-happen to see that one. It is very easy to pick aspects from a game and magnify them to seem much more than they are. The Raiders were not winning on this night, they were outplayed-outhustled, but should be a learning tool. As far as your posting goes, a couple of more like those and you may well end up with a comfy office job at the Floyd County BOE or even as a reporter for the Floyd County Enquirer, er, I mean Times. As far as reputation goes, they are paying for the actions of others, some from other programs! But it is water under the bridge, I would rather take this beating now and learn, than end the season on this type of game.

 I'm sure I would make more money at either of those jobs than I do now and probably get on your nerves more.

I just totally disagree. Raider players acting like NBA thugs on the floor help to instigate actions by fans in the stands. The players should display better sportsmanship and set the example - period. Doesn't matter what other teams do to you, walk away and leave them looking like fools.

But you are right about one thing: it's water under the bridge. And as long as the players come out, suck it up and play hard, the past will stay in the past. :thumb:
