Boston Rob Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Magoffin Co. 74 Pike Central 66 CONGRATULATIONS to the Lady Hornets on your well deserved win. Go represent the 15th region well in Bowling Green.:dancingpa
stark Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Should pick up a win or two at state...Very impressive showing by Magoffin County...Good luck Lady Hornets!
JC Alumni 76 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Great win for the Lady Hornet's and congrulations. Hope you all represent the region well and hopefully bring the title home to eastern kentucky. Good luck in the tournament next week in Bowling Green and it is a well deserved regional title if you ask me.
TomSportsHack Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Should pick up a win or two at state Don't be so sure of that. E'town is one of the top three teams in the state tournament, and center KaBrenda Warfield has Division I mid-majors like Miami (Ohio) and Morehead looking at her for the spring signing period.
dolamite Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Nice job by Magoffin's Lady Hornets, the favorites to win the region (rightfully so) and they backed it up with three nice games. Very good looking team for the girls had a good perimeter game, nice inside game, and most of all were very quick to be a girls basketball team. Tough draw going into BG, but best of luck, and represent the 15th well. :thumb:
InTheLoop Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I would feel a lot better if Magoffin County had been in the Sweet 16 last year. They have played some big games this season and will not be an easy win for E-Town. These Ladies have had a great season and Coach Miller has done an excellent job this year. Good Luck Lady Hornets. Bring one home for the 15th Region.
Boston Rob Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 Win or Lose you can count on one thing; the Lady Hornets will leave it all on the floor. These girls play the hardest of any team I've watched this year boys or girls. I think I've watched around 70 games or more this year. Go Lady Hornets

Oh, I agree. This is a tough opening round game for Magoffin County to win. I would also have to say it's a tough opening round game for E-Town as well. These two teams have one common opponent, Louisville Eastern. E-Town beat them by 15 this season, Magoffin beat'em by 16. :creepy: I wouldn't take too much into the Lady Hornets game with Pike Central last week. The officials did all they could to keep that game close. Magoffin was without a doubt a superior team to Pike Central. And I really believe that Ashley J. Howard could get looks from mid-majors, if recruiters are not afraid to take a chance on someone from East Kentucky coming to their school and sticking it out.

It is so funny that you can say that the officials tried to keep it close when they didn't give Brittany the Flagrant Foul for her tackle in the middle of the lane nor did they let play continue when AJ Howard was down on the ground and Central was advancing the ball with a 4-on-2 break. And this was after letting Haley Ratliff lay for 45 seconds without stopping play in the 1st half. Now, Magoffin won and they did it without anyone's help; however, they have taken so much flack in the past, maybe they forget to show respect to their opponents' abilities instead of blaming officials for the closeness of their games.

Play was stopped in the first half and she was helped to the bench and looked like she was done for. 2 minutes later, she's back on the court and hasn't missed a beat and never slowed down. :irked: Later in the game she took a hard knock and fell, took her blessed time getting back up to the playing court and the officials charged Butcher a timeout because of it.

Play in the first half was NOT STOPPED until after Magoffin had completed a whole trip playing 5-on-4. Central should have been given the same advantage.
SoldierOfTheCross Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Congrats to Coach Miller, the team, the parents, the cheerleaders, the whole school, the whole community...the people of Magoffin County are long overdue for a chance to play in a state tournament! God bless them on their journies and bring them home safe (and all the teams for that matter)!
gooseman Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I dont believe Etown is in the top 3 teams at the Sweet Sixteen, I dont recall seeing them in the top 25 any time this season. I just looked at the Lexington Hearld Sweet Sixteen poll and it has them rated like this 1 Lexington Cath 2 Mercy 3 Clay Co 4 Montogomery CO 5 Marshall Co 6 Iroquois 7 Muhlenberg North 8 Henderson CO 9 ETOWN 10 Shelby CO 11 Rose Hill 12 Franklin Simpson 13 Maggofin Co 14 Boone Co 15 Letcher Co Central 16 Rockcastle I would think that was the best team for Maggofin to drawl besides maybe the Rock or Letcher Central...
gooseman Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Good Luck Lady Hornets!! I will be pulling for all moutain Teams!
