BBCOR has effectively eliminated the "contact" homers that the previous bats made possible. The kids hitting long balls not because of their power or technique, but because of the equipment. It took the players maybe a year to adjust but now more and more kids are driving through contact and learning about bat speed again. It has been a welcome change in my opinion.

Well, I already know a couple of people who they DIDN'T hire and got notified today. Unless they have the next Sparky Anderson in the wings, they've missed out on at least one outstanding candidate.

As a whole the Tigers played pretty well. Some turnovers on soft passes and some ill-advised over-passing in the lane, but overall a pretty effective offensive showing. Austin Woodyard had an outstanding game putting down around 26 or so I believe. Zach Barrett also contributed with a strong offensive night when he was able to stay on the floor (fouls). Senior Zach Poinsett put down some threes at very key moments to stop Newport rallies. All-in-all a somewhat sloppy game by both teams but extremely hard fought and fast paced. One point ballgame with about 35 seconds to go in the game before a couple of those aforementioned bad passes gave Newport the final margin.

Lots of people have been called classless on here but that was without a doubt the most tasteless, classless and hateful post I have personally ever seen. He/she deserves whatever comes his/her way.

While I am not the statistical scholar that some on here are, I do know that the percentage of schools who actually legitimately compete for and/or earn trips to the state tournament is miniscule in comparison to the total number of schools in the KHSAA. That "statistic" or better that reality IS enough to say ALL sports need to be classified. NO, NOT 6 classes, that is absurdity, but certainly a one-class system only benefits the haves and the biggest schools. Anomalies exist, yes, but I guarantee the number of those anomalies is extremely small.

There's no "could" about it. I've seen that chant for years out of CovCath (I was a Holmes Grad) and didn't like it then nor do I now. The CovLatin kids are and should act better than such tripe.

I'll stand by my statement. While I will give you the benefit of the doubt as to your intent, your comment was indeed disrespectful. And I assure you that those two schools did indeed play Ludlow when they were in the 35th, I played in those games. And trust me, it was well before 04/05.

As I recall you have been among the vocal critics in the past when the 36th didn't seed in any sports. Now that they do you make a statement such as this? EVERY school has the right to play within their district if it seeds whether or not you or anyone else considers them a "fitting" opponent. Even the small ones. I always respect your observations sir, but this one is poor and uncalled for.

There you go . . . being rationale, reasonable and knowledgeable. Clearly you must live in another part of GC than Jaws. In all honesty, I'm glad to see folks like you and Dawg making those kinds of observations and sounding like real supporters with your own opinion. Now, how do you guys get on the coaching staff and contribute?

How interesting is it that Coach Siple is willing to ID himself (a practice I don't recommend for coaches normally) and to publicly state his position, whereas the antagonist in this little drama still throws slings and arrows from behind whatever rock it is he has crawled behind. And make no mistake I have no dog in this fight other than a passing interest. Football is a tough sport in which to build from scratch (excluding the fine upstanding folks at Fairview) and "fans" with "little league mentality" almost always expect far, far too much. Just because they're your kids doesn't mean they are great, or even good players. Coaches don't work miracles, they have success over time. You Jaws, are EXACTLY what is wrong with youth and high school sports today. And I have been coaching for some 30 years. I've been successful and I've been not so successful. And I have NEVER lived in the community in which I have coached. That might be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. My suggestion is get on board and help or get out of the way and watch the band. They ARE pretty good you know.

Actually, as BM sort of stated, almost none of the last statement is true. Dayton had a fiscal audit due to reports of misappropriation by one individual, Newport has a very low rating on K-Prep scores and Bellevue's K-Prep scores suffered this past year. NONE of those things involves state intervention or "assistance" in any form. Also, some of you are showing your stereotypical beliefs. I'll bet most of you couldn't give accurate "demographic" data on each of the schools if you had to. Race? Really? Is that an issue for predominantly white Ryle, or Beechwood, or Highlands, or is that only for schools with lower socio-economic populations? Gimme a break. While I will agree that merging the schools would make sense academically and ultimately athletically (with athletics being absolutely NO reason for making such a move), it won't happen anytime soon. And no, it's not about egos, it's about the communities NOT wanting to relinquish their local school. You see, before anything can happen via the Boards, etc., the local voters have to approve dissolution of their local school district. That my friends, "ain't a gonna happen."
