District game for seeding.

I took newcath -55 with a friend of mine. Sweet!

Schulte, McDonald, T. Moeves, Pangallo, & Weyer get the starting nod and only played the 1st quarter. Weyer saw about 2 minutes of action in the 2nd quarter and the rest of the starters played the 1st 2 minutes of the 3rd quarter.

 

Breds jump out to a 35-11 1st quarter lead behind 10 each from McDonald and Tanner Moeves. Big man Jake Schulte with 3 dunks, including a "sweet" alley-oop. Pangallo with some very nice "dimes".

 

The 2nd quarter it was "3-ball city" as Tyler Rawe connects for 3 and John Ludwig and Eric Anderson chip in one each. 6'7" Josh Verkamp added 6 points as well, as the Breds go to the half up 58-18

 

The 1st 2 minutes of the 3rd quarter, T.Moeves & Ben Weyer score 5 each and Jake Schulte adds a duece, and that was it for the starters. Brian Anderson with 5 and Grant Moeves with a bucket and the quarter ends , Breds up 77-22.

 

4th quarter belonged to Brian Anderson (6) and Seth Freppon (7), as they do all the scoring in the period, and the Breds win 90-30. NewCath hits 11 "triples" on the night,

Games like this are terrible for the Breds to be required to play.

They could have started Stevie Pangallo tonight and he would have dropped 20 on Dayton.

 

NCC will breeze through the Districts.

As I recall you have been among the vocal critics in the past when the 36th didn't seed in any sports. Now that they do you make a statement such as this? EVERY school has the right to play within their district if it seeds whether or not you or anyone else considers them a "fitting" opponent. Even the small ones. I always respect your observations sir, but this one is poor and uncalled for.

I think you're going a little far with that statement. I wasn't disrespecting Dayton or their program. Just stating the obvious that regardless of whether this game is played or not, Newcath is the better team.

 

I'm all for the seeding. I think teams should have to earn their way in to the region tournament. My point is, there are some districts that seed but every team doesn't play one another. Cov Latin is in the 35th district and competes in the district tournament but they don't play Holmes or Covcath. And I could be wrong but I believe when Ludlow was in the 35th, Covcath and Holmes didn't play them during the regular season until the 04/05 season.

At one point I know a team had the option of not playing the seed game and taking it as a loss toward the seeding and I believe Latin School may have chosen to do that. I also believe that Covington Latin didn't participate in the post season tournament for a long stretch prior to the last couple seasons.
