Wow - did anyone do their homework or were they blinded by the name? I am not accusing Mr. Collins of anything, and to my knowledge he has not broken any laws, or has ever been charged with anything. His previous coaching stints at Mason HS and Springboro HS both contained controversy and allegations....

I personally witnessed and know more about his past and his character, but don't know how to post without violating BGP. In my opinion, not someone I would want around my kids at my school.

I know nothing about Dave Collins as a coach, but hiring a former major leaguer certainly seems like a great hire. Now it's up to St. Henry to keep a coach for more than 2 seasons. It certainly seems like a revolving door at SHDHS.

Great move St Henry!! Really pleased to hear they have a high quality coach with major league experience. The young men especially the Seniors deserve a solid coach as many of them have had 4-5 coaches since they played at St. Henry.

 

Regarding his past, everyone makes mistakes. I'm sure he's learned from his past failures. Yes, he needs to tread lightly as I'm sure St Henry admin will be closing monitoring the situation. No need to dig up past Dirt on a good guy Big Sale. That's cheap shot!! Move on and forgive and forget.

In regards to the articles you posted:

 

The first one: Parents will claim a lot of things about a coach. The article doesn't provide details (unless I missed them) but I would ask which parents made the claims? Was it the parents of little Johnny who wasn't getting a lot of playing time? Is running kids after a game harassment and abuse? I don't think so. If that's the case there are a lot of coaches who harass and abuses their players then.

 

The second one: Why is it Coach Collins' fault that the admin hired him before a faculty member? If there was wrongdoing there it is on the part of the administration and not Coach Collins. He didn't hire himself.

All I did was post his track record - u decide if it's dirty or a cheap shot.

As for the other stuff I can't post, message me, I'll tell you what I know, and u can decide for yourself.

i would hope the st. henry staff did their home work. it's not like the guy is a nobody!!! everybody deserves a second chance.like i tell my players....."live and learn". good luck to coach collins.

I am aware of some stuff from other coaching stints, from the mid 80's. My wife played for him, and has some stories that aren't exactly flattering. I've never known what to think about that, and hearing someone else say the same thing, kinda validates it. Hopefully, that's all in the past.
