Does Collins still count as a "Head Coach"? St.Henry now looking for its 5th head coach in 4 years. Announced that Collins is not going to coach now and go back to a pro club.

It is confirmed that Dave Collins has quit from St Henry. I think St H has officially broken two records; 1. Most coaches in 5 years 2. Coach that has quit in the fastest time. Very unfortunate to keep setting the young men up and then letting them down. Perhaps St H needs to evaluate their hiring practices as ITS NOT WORKING!!!

The previous coach quit due to his job commitments correct? You cant put blame on St. Henry for that.

Doug did quit because of his work schedule not being cohesive to the baseball schedule.

Well I would like to think that......"Hey Dave do you have any desire to remain in pro baseball?" came up in the interview process. If it did then I assume the answer was No and that would be on Collins. If he answered Yes then it is on St. Henry.

Perhaps Collins didn't have any desire to stay in pro baseball. Perhaps he didn't see any possibility of him being in the major leagues. Then someone calls him up and says they want him to be on a big league staff. It is easy to see how that could happen.

So where does St. Henry go from here? Any ideas who they may go after?

I was wondering why this weekend all of the Big Red Machine was in. Rumor has it each one came in for an interview for the St H job.

If he had any desire to remain or return to Pro ball that should have been made clear at the interview. Again, if he did say that was a desire then St. Henry should have walked away. If he said "No I'm done with that" then it is on Collins.

You are missing my point. He may have legitimately thought his pro days were over and mentally have moved on. Maybe that is why he took the St. Henry job ... because he truly had no expectation or hope to coach in MLB. Then out of the blue someone calls and offers him a job. St. Henry only has room to be upset if they asked this specifically, "If a MLB team calls and asks you to coach, will you turn it down?" and he answered "Yes, I will turn it down and stay here."

I am not sure how long Collins has been out of pro ball but I find it very hard to believe he would be asked to join a Major League coaching staff, off the street. He may be in a system with an opportunity, but there are to many guys on coaching staffs working their way to the bigs to have a guy out of the game get asked to join the big club. JMHO

Connections mean a lot. If a friend or someone who likes him as a coach seeks him out, they will not care about what he has been doing the past couple of years.

So where is he going to be coaching/working then?
