Per this poll, the Harrison County vs Trinity winner who then would play possibly Lex Cath should win the Tournament. Trinity owns a 4-0 win over Harrison County earlier int he season. Shoould be another exciting tournament at Applebee's Park. I agree, where is the love for Lawrence County?

Key point will be the position of the Catcher if he is in the baseline or blocking the path to the plate with or without the ball. I was not there only reporting what I heard on the radio and some first hand accounts from people who were at the game. I can't say that I have ever seen obstruction called at homeplate.

Congratulations to the Thorobreds. An apparent umpire mis-call led to the disqualification of Harrison County 2B Matthew Dye in the bottom of the 5th inning. On what should have been an inning ending double play there was no signal so Dye continued running and when he approached home plate the Beechwood catcher was so far up the baseline that when Dye dove for the plate, the umpire ruled that he was trying to run over the catcher and thus disqualified him from the game. According to WCYN's Jim Swinford Dye was treated rudely by the catcher and I am not sure if the Beechwood Catcher was also disqualified (Since have heard that he threw a punch at Dye and was not ejected from the game). This means that Dye will have to sit out the opening round game of the State Tournament. If anyone has a videotape of the play it would be nice to see it, to see if there is some sort of an appeal to be made for the young man. He is an excellent ball player and a super person and it is a shame that a poor call or a no call by the men in blue will cost him a chance to play in the opening round at Applebee's Park. Congratulations to Seniors Eric Case and Bobby Feeback for coming up with run scoring hits in the 2nd inning and for Junior Matthew Dye getting a run scoring hit in the 5th. Sophomore Logan Dailey went the distance to get the win for the Thorobreds. I just spoke to some of the people at the game and apparently the Beechwood catcher threw a punch and was not ejected from the game. Apparently Channel 27 and 36 have video of the play so maybe there can be an appeal and the young man can play in the opening round of the State Tournament. You would thnk that throwing a punch at an opposing player would be an automatic ejection wouldn't you? Was the umpire behind the plate a 9th Region umpire?

Don't look for Harrison to throw Dailey on Wednesday unless they have to. They need to find that 3rd pitcher if they want to make a run at the State. Look for Chasteen or Fowler to get the nod on the mound for the Breds. Dye, Durbin, Case and Hill may also see some action on the mound. Good luck Thorobreds only 4 more to win!

I agree, it took you all a while to get the Region and the weather was terrible, but all things considered including getting the tarp from Conner a great job!

If I'm not mistaken it was 2-0 in games and the scores were 6-5 (9 innings) and 5-1, so I'm not sure that qualifies as squashing the Breds in 2006.

Harrison County gets revenge for 2006 Semi-State loss to Beechwood at Harrison County in an emotional series. Harrison's pitching depth and experience despite having only 4 Seniors, 1 of which is an everyday starter will carry them back to Applebee's Park for the 2nd year in a row. It should be a good series with big crowds from both sides. Good luck to the Thorobreds!

Who wins the series and why? Games are scheduled for June 2, 3 and 4 (if necessary) at 6:00 p.m. at St. Henry High School.

I would say Coach W. at Harrison County is the best coach in Northern Kentucky.

I had been told that it was Wednesday, Thursday and Friday if necessary. Are you sure that it is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday? That means Dailey is not eligible for Game 1. 10th Region rain delays may work to Beechwood's advantage.

Harrison scored 1 in the first on a Matthew Dye single after a hit and an error by the Scott second baseman. It stayed 1-0 until the 4th or 5th when the #8 hitter for Scott tied it with a HR. Harrison then scored 3 runs in the 6th, 1 just before the lightning delay and 2 after the delay. Dailey got the complete game victory for Harrison County and Sowder who pitched an excellent game took the loss for Scott. Sowder pitched out of the jam in the 1st allowing only 1 run and really kept the Breds off stride until the 6th. Bobby Feeback had a huge pinch hit single as he came to bat with a 1 ball 2 strike count with 2 outs and delivered a single to make it 3-1. Harrison now advances to face Beechwood in what is a rematch from 2006 and should be a very good series. Good luck to the Thorobreds and congratulations to Scott on a great season.

Tradition as well lately is a key factor in their success. They are young as is Harrison County if they make it past Scott High. Harrison versus Beechwood would be a very good match-up and a repeat from the last time the 9th and 10th Regions played 3 years ago.

I disagree. IMO any coach has a right to question and argue an umpires call. If the 1st base coach is the assistant and a runner gets picked off at first he has a much better view than the head coach who most likely is at 3rd base. If you are a coach and a good coach, you have the right and the responsibility to stand up for your players. Many umpires these days who get paid good money are far too sensitive or are on a power trip of some sort. As long as the coach does not cuss or get personal then the umpire should be man enough to listen. Once he has given the coach his time, then he should say enough is enough I have heard you out I disagree and any more about this call and you are done. If the coach continues, then toss him, but don't get trigger happy on the first comment.

They hit Mynear better than I expected them too. However, Pendleton County, not known for its good hitting also hit Mynear well and beat the Jackets 4-1 at Nicholas earlier in the year. Tonight's championship game could be a good one. Good luck to Coach W. and the Thorobreds.

Considering the terrible weather Scott has done a good job of getting the games in. Thanks Conner for the use of the tarp, without it who knows when we would be finishing this up.

Homefield advantage Scott, experience and tradition advantage to Harrison. I think Harrison will win this one, but it could be a close game. Both teams should have their full compliment of pitchers available.

Yes they have! They could make the trip for a 1/2 inning if Scott rallies for 4 runs. But that is why you make the trip, Nicholas still has 2 at bats. Harrison awaits the winner on Saturday at 6:00 and there is a chance of afternoon storms again!

Are all Semi-States M-W-F? If so, the 10th Region and 14th Region are at a big disadvantage going into the Semi-State with their Regional Finals on Saturday.
