  2. If you go to a class system it will destroy many rivalries around the state. It wouldn't mean as much when cross town rivals such as PCC & Hazard play. Also, Hazard won the All A state in 2004 but ,although exciting, it didn't mean as much to the community as going to the sweet sixteen in 2006.
  3. Justin Hicks continues to be the best guard in the region. He faces a box and chaser or triangle and 2 almost every game. Matt Williams is a good compliment to Hicks because he is a slasher to the basket and an overall good athlete. That being said, I am impressed with Stepp and Cox at JBS. Unfortunately for them they only get to play with one ball during the game.
  4. Cameron Bailey Of Hazard will sign soon with Rollins College in Winter Park Florida. He will play for one of the top ten D-2 golf colleges in the U.S.
  5. All of the sophmores will be on a school trip Saturday. This includes Michael Campbell, Justin Jones and Josh Kidd.
  6. Hazard won round 1. Hicks continues to prove why he is the best player in the region. Great win for Coach Morris and the boys.
  7. The best cross town rivalry in the state. What is your prediction?
  8. Good win for Hazard. Anytime you can go to Breathitt and win, it's a good win.
  9. This should be a good game. Any predictions?
  10. The starters didn't even play half of the game. Six players with 10 or more points for Hazard. Poor Wolfe, looks like a long season for them.
  11. This is going way back but in 1953 Hazard had 3 D-1 players; Roscoe Shackleford went to University of Louisville, John Evans Bowling and John Quillen went to Virginia Tech.
  12. Then if he isn't then who is? I have never coached one that has more talent that is more coachable. He is a coach on the floor.
  13. You're right. But I was so upset by the PRPv. Hazard game that I really didn"t care except that Reggie Hanson was going to Kentucky. I have actually heard Dave Fraley say that he was glad that he played PRP in the finals because he didn't feel that they would have beaten Hazard.
  14. The 1986 final four with Pulaski Co. v.Owensboro in the first game and Pleasure Ridge Park v. Hazard in the second. Both games went down to the wire. The finals were anti-climatic.
  15. Justin Hicks has an excellent shot at playing college basketball. He is a heady player that has excellent grades. Under the right circumstances he could play big time college ball.
  16. The lighting at John C. Combs Arena is terrible. But, the parking is better than at KCC.
  17. Justin Hicks is the best player in the region. Everybody uses gimic defenses to try and stop him and he still drops 20 on most.
  18. Don't count Hazard out. All of the players are back and Lewis Morris will do a fine job as their coach.
  19. For the Hazard Bulldogs it would be: Carl Wallace point guard 1986 John Hagans 2 Guard 1972 Jim Rose 3 Guard 1966 Dickie Alexander Power Forward 1980 Chester Rose Center 1965
  20. Who plays point guard for this team and do you think that they have enough basketballs for Stepp, Cox and Hicks?
  21. In my opinion, there are two problems with the coaching carousel that are not the coaches fault. The first is that in some high schools, especially those with a deep tradition, people will never be satisfied unless the coach produces teams that win at least 25 games per year, are always a state contender and , and this is key, play the right people while doing this year after year. The coach is put under such tremendous pressure to do all this that sometimes they leave just to get away from it. The second problem is that 25 years ago students and parents were loyal to a school and a community. They might not agree with the coach but the only options they had were to quit the team or stick it out. Today if the student and the parents disagree with the coach they either try to get the coach fired or transfer to a neighboring school. It has become absurd.
  22. Michael Campbell of Hazard. He's a 6'4'' sophmore who plays hard all the time. His Eddie Ford coaches loved him this past summer.
