You're correct. Hazard went in '86 & 87', Buckhorn went in '88 & '89, Leslie went in '90, Dilce Combs won the All A State in '93 and MC Napier went to the State in '94. Nice run for the 54th.

How much fun will the 54th District be this year? All four teams are competitive. It reminds me of the late 80's and early 90's when Leslie, Dilce Combs, M.C. Napier, & Hazard were all good teams.

Hicks from Hazard and Bailey from PCC. If these guys are shooting well their team is hard to beat.

Hazard has the best chance to make some noise if they get there due to the fact that they have been there three years in a row and have a State record of 5 wins and 2 losses in that time. Of course they have to get there first.

I'm a huge Hazard fan and I would have to think that they would be the favorite but there are a lot of small schools in the 14th with some impressive records. In addition, they have to beat Wolfe at Wolfe on Wednesday. If Hazard does not come ready to play on any night during the tourney then there won't be a 4-peat.

An inside source told me that Hazard played about as bad as they could play and still won.

A toss up between Jim Rose and Johnny Cox of Hazard. In the Modern Era, it would have to be Carl Wallace.

What has happened to Breathitt County. Two years ago their eighth grade team won the State AAU tournament. Shouldn't they be loaded again?
