Knott County Central 86 Lafayette 72
Q man replied to Spin Doctor's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Knott will beat just about anyone when they shoot that well. Did Lafayette not know that Knott is a perimeter team and maybe you need to get a hand up when they shoot. -
Good to see Big Al back on the Bench. I still think that the Bulldogs have not reached their full potential and the best is yet to come.

Hazard - 54th District JV Champions
Q man replied to Spin Doctor's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Congratulations to Coach brashear and his very young JV team. -
■ Not sure what Billy Gillispie is trying to prove with his behavior in those halftime interviews with ESPN's Jeannine Edwards, but truth is the Kentucky coach comes off as something of a jerk, which doesn't do anybody any good. It's all so unnecessary, too. All Billy G. has to do is give a couple of clichés and continue on to the locker room. But instead of scolding Edwards for her question as he did at Mississippi, Gillispie claimed Tuesday he didn't hear the question, then told Edwards he didn't know where she got the Nick Calathes "vision" question when it was he the day before who complimented Calathes' "great vision." It's a tired act, one bordering on sexism, and Gillispie needs to retire it. It's a poor reflection on him and the school he represents. If he doesn't want to do those interviews, there are plenty of coaches out there who would be happy to take his paycheck — and talk to ESPN. I couldn't agree more. To paraphrase an old C.M. Newton saying, "Come on, Billy, you're better than that." ■ So with a four-way tie in the East, which

Wow. The 9th region just got more interesting.

I think not only Gallaway but Harrellson needs more clock. He can score.

Personal opinion on Gillispie and so on...

The program wasn't broken when he got here. -
The 54th District pairings are set. Perry Central plays Leslie Co. and Hazard plays Buckhorn. The district is hosted by Leslie Co. this year.

I've never heard of this.

Hazard @ Letcher Central Predictions (2-10)
Q man posted a topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Its about time for Hazard to come out of their shooting slump. Predictions on the game anyone? -
Number 1 Hazard does have talent. Whitaker is not a one man team. He will tell you that. Hazard needs to pick up the energy level and they'll do fine. I hope the two meet again, maybe in Rupp.

Fear 'Les' 13th Regional Rankings Feb. 5
Q man replied to Les's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This is the thing about Spurlock. He really doesn't care if you like him or not. As long as his team is playing well, that's all that matters. And thats the only way to survive in the coaching business. Especially at such traditional powers as Hazard and Clay County. -
Fear 'Les' 13th Regional Rankings Feb. 5

Kevin Spurlock will have Clay County ready to play come Tournament time. The tough schedule that they have played will only make them tougher. I like this team! -
Which Regional favorite will be "missing in action"?
Q man replied to mcraycraft's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would have a hard time making the Bulldogs the favorites right now. Knott Co. has beaten Hazard twice and Perry Central is beating everyone. Plus, Hazard's less than stellar performance in the All "A" State Tournament makes me wonder if they can repeat as 14th Region Champs. But, on the other side, Big Al has proven time after time that he knows the way to Rupp Arena. -
Who's the favorite to win the All "A"?
Q man replied to EC12's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Have you seen Hazard play since Campbell's departure? They may actually be a better team. -
Big Al pulled his starters after 1 quarter and basically played the JV squad the remainder of the game.
-
I have witnessed some great play in the last couple of weks from a freshman at Hazard named B.J. Combs. He played great against Clay Co. and Perry Central. Who are some of the other Freshman making an impact?

13th region may be better than the pundits think
Q man replied to Redhound0934's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Kevin Spurlock's Clay Co. team have more talent than many think. If they can lsiten to him and mature, then they will be tough to beat in March. -
I see Shelby Valley and Hazard in the finals.

Hazard 51 Perry County Central 36
Q man replied to roosterhead's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Your just sore cause your boys got beat. Maggard did ok but the bottom line is Hazard's defense did the damage. And for Michael Campbell, you need to lay off. If you knew him you would know that he is a decent kid besides all his family issues. With that said, Hazard's talent level is far superior to PCC. And from the results of the JV game, this should continue. -
As far as I know. And on friendly terms. He has decided to work on football which is his best shot at college.
-
I have heard that Leslie and Buckhorn have traditionally been oppsed to seeding.
-
They do not seed the teams in the 54th District. Therfore they don't have to play. This isn't the first time this has happened in the district.
-
I agree that Hazard will miss Campbell's athletism. But, their team chemisrty will improve greatly.
