Actually, that's the case if and only if Henry Co. beats Waggener. If that happens, Henry moves up to the No. 2 seed and then TNHS is in a H2H with Bardstown for the No. 4 spot. But if it remains a 3-way tie for the 3 and 4 seeds with Henry, TNHS and Bardstown, it goes to the points system. Henry has more points based on their out-of-district beaten opponents' win totals, so they would be No. 3. Thomas Nelson plays Bethlehem the last game of the year, and if they beat the Eagles, they get their points (which figures to be 3 if they beat Ft. Knox Friday, which I expect). A young and beat-up Bardstown team figures to be road underdogs at E'town and Warren East. Right now, Bardstown has non-district wins over winless Nelson County and Marion County (who play each other last week of the season). TNHS has a win over Nelson Co. If TNHS doesn't beat Bethlehem, and Marion beats NC, Bardstown would get a point and take the 4th seed trip to South Williamson.

If it shakes out the way I'm seeing it, here's the matchups: Bardstown/Thomas Nelson at Belfry Henry Co. at Lawrence Co. Pike Central at Waggener Sheldon Clark at Central TNHS, B'town and Henry Co. are headed toward a three-way tie for the 3 and 4 seeds in 3AD3. Henry Co. has more points from non-district wins than TNHS or B'town. To get their first-ever playoff berth, Thomas Nelson needs to beat Bethlehem at home the last week of the season. If they don't, it comes down to who wins the Marion Co.-Nelson Co. game, as Bardstown would get an extra point since they beat Marion. TNHS had a chance to throw a monkeywrench into it if they could have upset Waggener on Friday. The Wildcats had Brents out with an injury and Harper also left the game injured. TNHS failed on a 2-point conversion to tie it in the final minute, falling 27-25. They could have grabbed the No. 2 seed outright. Henry Co. also has a chance to move up if they can win in St. Matthews this week, which would tie those two at 2-2, with Henry owning the tiebreaker. Their chances would be greatly improved if Waggener's stars are still sidelined. If that scenario happens, Bardstown would go to Belfry by virtue of their H2H win over TNHS.

I was talking with Thomas Nelson's coach yesterday and he said Harper's injury looked nasty, and that he hoped it wasn't as bad as it seemed. Possible ACL tear?

If they don't allow a return from inside the EZ in HS, why would they allow it if your foot is on the goal line? They blow touchbacks for kicks in this situation. Shouldn't 99 yards be the max length in HS?

I fixed that for you, as that's a more fair statement. More than 2/3 of the team is freshmen and sophomores, and they graduated 17 seniors last year from a 2-loss team.

While not T25, top-seeded Bardstown was upset by Bethlehem in the 19th. Bethlehem then upset Nelson Co. in tonight's finals. Didn't see that coming.

If it means enough to get junior to that greener grass on the other side of the fence, I've found that parents will chose to do so. But that's their choice. Sure, but it's a self-imposed one. Blame Boone Co. Schools and not the KHSAA. The KHSAA has regulatory power over sports, not how a school chooses to fill its hallways.

It is kinda sad. And Adair voted for it.

Obviously, big AAU events give college coaches the best chance to see the most amount of players, and try to figure out how those guys can either fit into their program, or have a program molded around. In HS games, however, you get to see the player at a different intensity level, since he's playing for community pride and such. It obviously gets a lot bigger if that player's team plays in a big atmosphere such as the Sweet 16. They display other skills at that point beyond just doing as well as possible in those rare chances the ball is in their hands (since they're playing with a bunch of other stars in AAU in that other situation).

Teh Bengal Maniac types too fast sometimes, but I'll forgive him for his passion. I am totally on board with him as well.

Most HS games take 2-2 1/2 hours. I can’t imagine.

Another interesting wrinkle is that Nelson Co. and Marion Co. play each other at NCHS in the final week. Bardstown would need Marion Co. to win that one and cheer for Bethlehem.

That makes Thomas Nelson's regular-season finale v. Bethlehem absolutely critical for them. Bethlehem currently has two wins, and would appear to be a favorite over Campbellsville and Ft. Knox. My eyeball test tells me Bethlehem-TNHS will be a tight game, as has been the case in this series of late.

Now that teams are getting into the meat of their district schedules, there will undoubtedly be some tiebreaker scenarios come up. In Class 3A D3, it appears likely that Thomas Nelson, Henry Co. and Bardstown will end up in a 3-way tie for the #3 and #4 seeds (barring a major upset). Central and Waggener appear to be the clear favorites for the top two seeds. Here's how it shakes out: • TNHS (2-5 overall, 1-1 dist.) — remaining games v. Central, Waggener and Bethlehem, all at home — wins over Nelson Co. (0-7) and Henry Co. (4-4) • Bardstown (3-4 overall, 1-2 dist.) — remaining games v. Central, E'town and Warren East, all on the road — wins over TNHS (2-5), Nelson Co. (0-7) and Marion Co. (0-7) • Henry Co. (4-4 overall, 1-2 dist.) — remaining games v. Waggener (away) and Moore (home) — Wins over B'town (3-4), Oldham Co. (3-4), Grant Co. (0-7) and Spencer Co. (2-6) Someone who knows more about the procedure than me please help me out with a refresher on how it works. Do you get to count all of your wins toward this, or are your district wins excluded?

And yes, whatever they do going forward, Logan is the best story in the state this year.

Why not have soccer practice on the baseball fields in the OF? That's what Bardstown does and it seems to work. Don't these schools have small practice fields for football?

This was one of two forfeits on the night. Fulton County backed out of its visit to Russellville last night, and I wonder if Fulton City won't simply tell the Panthers to stay home this week. I'm thinking there will be a few first-round byes in the 1A playoffs this year.

The two teams that played for the 1996 Class 4A state football championship are a combined 0-12 this year, and have combined to drop 26 in a row.

Henry Co. scored with just under a minute to play to pull within one, but the host Wildcats were stopped by the TNHS defense on the 2-point try to get the win. It was a huge one, too, because it could have just sealed the Generals' first-ever playoff berth. The 3A D3 standings look like this: Central 1-0 Waggener 1-0 Bardstown 1-1 Thomas Nelson 1-1 Henry Co. 0-2 Henry Co. plays at Bardstown next week and will be fighting for their playoff lives to get into that three-way tie.

This one got out of hand in a hurry. SO was just too big, strong and fast for an undermanned NC squad.
