After all the preseason expectations, Hopkinsville now sits at 1-6. Injuries and transfers completely took the wind out of their sails this year.

Great story. Lose 42 straight, end last season with a win, then start the next seaon 7-0. Sincere congrats and good luck the rest of the season.

Good for Logan County. I thought this would be the moment of truth and we would see Logan County come back to earth. I was wrong. Logan County is arguably the story of the year in Kentucky high school football. From a 42 game losing streak directly to a 8 game winning streak and undefeated at 7-0. Unbelievable. I want to hear the rest of the story!

Wow. Who'd have thunk that. Has Logan ever beaten Hoptown?

And yes, whatever they do going forward, Logan is the best story in the state this year.

The better team won tonight.

 

Logan County was minus 2 in turnover ratio. Hopkinsville was inside the LC 10 4 times and got 4 field goals. Hopkinsville had the speed advantage but LC had the line advantage.

 

Hopkinsville ran a lot of 2 tight end I-formation stuff, quite different from the last few years. They had wide open receivers on at least 4 or 5 plays that could have been TDs but either overthrew the ball or dropped the passes.

 

Logan County had a good pass rush. Hard hitting defense. They ran everything out of the shotgun. Best game I have seen this year. This basically assures them a home playoff game and they have a shot at Madisonville next week for the district title.

 

If someone told you before the season that a team in 4A Region 1 would be undefeated at this point, I doubt anyone would have guessed it would be the Cougars. Congratulations!

At the start of the season someone said the team who won this game tonight would be undefeated and the other would be 1-6 I think we all would view it as a possibility... unfortunately 100% of us would assume Logan County would have been the 1-6 team

So glad I went to this game.

 

The stadium was full and there was a kind of tense excitement.

 

When Ezell seemingly rode that wave of his teammates into the end zone for the win the excitement turned to pure joy and celebration. The parents and fans were hugging and laughing while their Cougars literally jumping for joy.

 

This truly was the biggest win in Logan County football history. Hopkinsviile’s record does not matter. The Cougars have risen from the ashes of a 42 game losing steak to beat one of the storied programs in KHSAA history.
