There's been rumblings the past two weeks comparing May to Howard... what's everyone's thoughts on this?

I left at halftime. St. X looked good but LexCath definately made them look better. Anderson was excellent. LexCath's right side of the defense was picked on by the Tigers til it broke. The LexCath QB struggles when under pressure and lofted alot of passes.

I am sure Owensboro Catholic is a fan of the run game after what Belfry and Russell has done to their spread offense and finesse defense the past two championships

No offense but NCC wasn't close to moving the ball effectively against Belfry with the run. When half of Vicars yards came on one carry which resulted in a fumble at the end of it , then it is safe to say the Pirates put the clamps down. As for this one,,, I just don't think that the Wildcats will have the depth and physicality to defeat the Breds. I also cant picture Newport being nearly as quick or fundamentally sound as Belfry's defense. NCC 28 Newport 20

Judging Belfry by a scrimmage is like picking a horse race based on how the horse walks around in his stall. Over the past three years Belfry has been THE dominant football program in the mountains.

Louisville Central and Pad. Tilghman are huge winners IMO. Looking at 3A they seem to be the only names to come to mind as having a shot at Belfry, Russell, and Breathitt on a consistent basis.

I think Josh Williams may be one of the best unheard of players in the state. The kid is tough on both sides of the ball.

thanks oxnard.... I am a Belfry fan isolated in Louisville so I figure I might as well watch some of the best football possible.

Couple things: 1. Scrimmages with Belfry are in no way even comparable to the actual game. Belfry seldom would be considered the victor in mot of their scrimmages... the format is typically 10 plays and out... a typical Belfry drive is 15+ plays. 2. We all have to consider the man behind the comments. Jim Matney is a phenomenal coach when it comes to the x's and o's...but when it becomes mental aspects he's even better. Did it ever cross anyone's mind that maybe, just maybe, Matney is painting the picture to fans as the program everyone loves to hate? Its been said on here before how different the fan base has became and how JC fans now actually travel.... when it comes to matney he wants the community to be hand in hand with the program and if he can fire his players up mentally don't ya think he can do it to the fans?

This I disagree with... IMO Brentwood was good...but not that good. As I watched the game Brentwood reminded me of Scott County to be honest. In fact the best team I saw tonight was Male. I'd say Brentwood would be a top 5 4A team, and top 10 overall in the state. Manual's QB played with heart but he looked and also performed very young. Alot of this can be blamed on the fact that the Crimson's were getting eaten alive up front (their biggest issue IMO), but at the same time I felt the QB rushed throws and forced things that weren't there. The Crimson's special teams are subject as well.

I left at the end of the first quarter with Male up 28-0..the game was being suspended due to lightning but Male was beating New albany like they owed them money. Beaumont already had 100+ yards and the QB looked very good at running the offense.It was also my opinion that Josh Williams (DB/WR) is perhaps one of the hidden gems in the state..the kid is fast, aggressive, and athletic.

Bottom line.... for Mercer to have any chance against Russell and/or Belfry they better have one heckuva good run defense as well as tons of discipline.

If anyone can get the exact address for me so i can mapquest it that would be awesome. I am new to Louisville and am familiar with most of the town but Eastern Parkway (East of UL) is one of the few places I am not. Thanks in advance

Wow... good luck Pikeville in a game where they are totally outmanned in talent and depth... if Coach Jackson's troops can keep it close, or even win, could mean that the Panthers might be potent this season.

Beware the Mercer Titans.... true the LexChristian team is definately down this year, but Mercer is going to be a legit 2A title contender.
