I honestly believe that Corbin is ranked a little too high. They are going to have to replace 7 starters on the defensive side, so the offense better play some ball control and score a lot of points until the defense grows up. They could possibly start the season off by losing 3 or 4 out of the first 4 games, which could cause some confidence problems as well. If they win 2or 3 of the first 4, then they should be alright, but could realistically go 6-4 or 5-5 in the regular season.

Corbin's defense was really good last year, especially against teams that liked to throw the ball. That had a hiccup against Mayfield, but you have to credit the Cardinals for taking advantage of what Corbin was giving to them the first half. After Corbin went back to their regular defensive scheme the second half, the Hounds were able to get back into the game. The main reason the defense was so effective was the fact that they were able to really put pressure on the opposing QB without blitzing the LB's. The main 3 DL, Davis, Evans & Sevier, who created all that pressure graduated, and I'm not sure they can be replaced. They also only return 1 starting DB, so I doubt they can duplicate the defensive stats listed below from some of last year's games. Passing yards allowed: vs Knox Central - 5 vs Whitley Co. - 67 vs Soutwestern - 55 vs Danville - 103 vs Central - 0 vs Bell Co. - 46

Cameron will be the key to Corbin's success this year. He really makes the offense go with his ability to either throw or run. He obviously needs to stay healthy, but especially considering the backup QB still has not been cleared to play after suffering a knee injury on the first play of the Belfry game last year.

They are trying to get some W's by playing much smaller schools.

I watched the Webster Co. vs Corbin game and Corbin was fortunate to get the win. I believe that Webster Co. committed a crucial turnover late that led to Corbin's winning TD, but my memory may be a little foggy. Also, they just like every team Corbin faced leading up to the title game had poor passing attacks, which benefited Corbin because they were strong against the run and not very good at all against the pass, which reared it's ugly head against the Justin Haddix led Breathitt Co. team. They had a good solid, fundamental football team and would have been more of a challenge to the Bobcats than the Redhounds were.

Good hire for Whitley County. The 50th District just got even more competitive.

I saw where Lynn Camp has over 40 kids out this year, so that is a good sign that the football program may be heading in the right direction.

Has Ledington taken another job? He doesn't stay anywhere very long.

The school is in Whitley County and the field is in Knox County, but no part of the city or school district is in Laurel County, although the stadium is only 1/2 mile from the Laurel Co. line. Many businesses in what is called North Corbin have been pushing for annexation into Corbin, but Laurel has fought it off so far.

Laurel, McCreary and Knox County from my area come quickly to mind.

Morris is one of the best coaches in the region, so this is a very good hire by Middlesboro. I thought that he wanted to get out of coaching so that he would have more time to watch his daughter, kind of appears that he just didn't want any more to do with coaching at Bell under the current regime.

Corbin's biggest holes to fill will be the defensive line, where they lost 3 solid contributors, and the defensive backfield. The defensive backfield was very good for the most part on pass defense, but as a group were not very physical and just average tacklers in my opinion. The defensive line played outstanding, especially in putting pressure on the QB in the pocket. Offensively, they did not lose as much and I expect both the running and passing games to be a little better this year. Moore was a big loss, but Estep really came on and was the go to guy the second half of the season. They also return Mitchell, Barton and Gosselin, who combined for over 1000 yds. receiving last year. As far as the RB position, I expect Maguet, Estep and Keith to get the majority of the carries. Sizemore will obviously be the key to the offense, both running and passing, and from what I am hearing will be an even much better QB this year. Corbin does need to get faster on the edge and they may play some kids on both sides of the ball some to improve in that area. In the Belfry game last year, they moved their fastest player from LB to safety just for this game, which worked out well for much of the game, but in the second half he kept getting sucked up inside off of the Belfry QB's ball fakes and was out of position to help on the outside runs. He returns, along with 2 other starting LB's and this group(Simms, Money & Gibson) will need to be the strength of the defense while the newcomers get some experience. They had better grow up fast because the first 5 weeks of the schedule is going to be tough with Alcoa, Pulaski Co., Mayfield, Beechwood and rival Whitley Co. facing them. If they get some kids to step up on the defensive side of the ball to replace last year's Sr. class, the Redhounds could be playing Belfry again in the semifinals

Those coaching salaries look kind of low for the amount of time they have to put in. Corbin pays really well compared to the numbers you have listed, with both the boys and girls basketball coaches making in the 16-18K range per year.

Can they expedite Belfry moving out of 3A to this coming season?:lol2: Corbin will more than likely be moving to 4A at the next realignment, graduated 207 this weekend and have larger classes coming up.

That may be good enough... They already have 2 AD's, so I kind of thought that he may have to be in the classroom.

Congrats to Josh, although I was hoping that he would get the Corbin girls job. I expect him to be an excellent head coach.

What subjects does he teach? I understand that Bell is cutting teaching jobs.
