  1. Pretty good game tonight by the Falcons although we still have a lot to improve on, like DE play/containment and need to show a lot more grit at some key positions. Monroe had their first turnover of the season tonight (finished the game with 2 TO's) and they came on some good drives that you hate to see end with TO's, I don't expect that to become a trend. On a side note, maybe with the drumming Danville took we can move up a little in the polls (at least past 1-3 Danville), Monroe is currently the only undefeated team in the Region… 4-0 Go Roe Go…
  2. Neil finished the night/half with 3 catches for 137 yards and 2 TD's. Not bad...
  3. Good game tonight by the Falcons. Monroe was up 39-0 at the half, so the JV got some quality time in as well. Game seemed to last forever with the injury of two Adair Co. players, one injured player had to lay on the field for about 20mins waiting on paramedics. something about that doesn't seem right to me, it also doesn't seem right to me that our head coach seemed to be more concerned about the injured player than their HC but I guess that’s an Adair Co. problem not ours. Good luck to both those players in their recovery, I hope it's a speedy one...

  6. ^Not bad... I believe there are 28 freshman out for football this year correct? With numbers like that I see a bright future for Monroe County football... The large number of players (76 on this years team) IMO is testament to Coach John Petett and the type program he runs that he is able to retain a large number of players from freshman-senior, one thing he‘s done is surround himself with the best assistants available, he‘s also been very involved with the little league program like tsyoung7 said… I remember several years ago when John took the head coaching job after Myers left that I was blasted on here for thinking/saying that in the long run Monroe Co. Football was in better shape with Coach Petett at the Helm, I think my point is being made now and will continue to be made in the future, not knocking Coach Myers because he is a fine coach and Russellville is a good fit for him, but I know the coach we have now is Monroe County thru and thru and it wouldn't matter if Trinity came calling he would rather coach the Falcons and bring a title to this community...
  7. Adair will be a lot better this year than in years past, they have a transfer athlete that is pretty quick, however Coach Petett will not allow the Falcons to overlook them. I see the young guys getting some PT in this one... Monroe 40 Adair 13
  8. Sounds like a tecmo bowl score... Was this game played on a Nintendo with Bo Jackson at RB?
  9. No doubt the OL has a lot of improving to do, to be quite honest it's time for some guys to man up. Also the defense has to stop giving up the big play, the screen pass and our lack of fundamentals on it drove me crazy tonight as I'm sure it did the coaches, we no doubt have a tough defense but to often we allow teams to convert 3rd and longs as well as 4th down conversions, a lot of that has to do with how aggressive they are, personally I‘ll take an aggressive mistake over a passive one any day. There's one thing I know for sure and that is Coach Petett is not going let this team settle or play below their capabilities, he said he was pleased tonight as I'm sure he was, but you can see he's hungry to get back on the field and fix the mistakes and shortcomings.
  10. Monroe looked decent tonight, all in all it's hard to complain considering that a lot of guys are still cutting their teeth at the varsity level. Enough can't be said about Jackson Arnett's play at this point in the season, he had some big shoes to fill and at this point is doing a fine job, don't get me wrong he's got some thing's to improve on but he's well on his way to being a fine QB and leader. Neil Wilson is as good as advertised, I wish the slant pass for a TD would have stood, it would have looked great on his stat line, Coach Petett has done a great job of using unique ways of getting him the ball despite being double teamed and even triple teamed. It was nice to see Tanner Kendall come out his shell tonight, he still isn't hitting the edge quite as fast as he was last year, but he did look good on several plays tonight, and to his credit Wayne and Edmonson Co feature two really good defenses...
  11. I hope that we do continue to throw the ball at least 15-20 times a game, I think it's important for several reasons, one being we have a D1 talent in Neil Wilson and I think it's important to get him several touches and try to get him at or near 1,000 yards on the season. Personally I would like to see some bubble screens or slip screens go his way because those plays have the tempo of a run and Neil is great at getting yards after the catch...

  18. I understand that history plays a part of where Danville is ranked, and to an extent I agree with that, however when BGP put them at #4 preseason and Monroe at #9 I have to admit it rubbed me the wrong way, But I don't put too much stock in polls and like you said things will be a whole lot clearer in a few weeks...:thumb:
  19. I have to admit I'm a little shocked that Danville is ranked as high as they are, They lost some good players from the third best team in the Region, yet they start the season ranked higher than both the teams that were better than them, and to be honest I feel Monroe and Green are better than them in 09 as well, nothing against Danville as I'm sure they will get better as the season goes on but right now I think they should be in the 9-13 range in 2A…
  20. Trousdale County has a very good football program that gets a lot of support from the community, they play with a lot of pride and grit. Mayfield might win, and I hope they do, but it won't be easy...
  21. Monroe Co. 33 Edmonson Co. 13 If Monroe plays as well and balanced as they did against Wayne they should roll over the wildcats, IMO...
  22. Scribe, great to see the "notebook" back. This is one of the best features on BGP IMO... Thanks for all hard work to make it happen...
