Toebud Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 Monroe County moves on to 2-0 on the season as Tanner Kendall carries the ball 19 times for 126 yds on the night.
SEMPERFIFALCON Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Monroe looked decent tonight, all in all it's hard to complain considering that a lot of guys are still cutting their teeth at the varsity level. Enough can't be said about Jackson Arnett's play at this point in the season, he had some big shoes to fill and at this point is doing a fine job, don't get me wrong he's got some thing's to improve on but he's well on his way to being a fine QB and leader. Neil Wilson is as good as advertised, I wish the slant pass for a TD would have stood, it would have looked great on his stat line, Coach Petett has done a great job of using unique ways of getting him the ball despite being double teamed and even triple teamed. It was nice to see Tanner Kendall come out his shell tonight, he still isn't hitting the edge quite as fast as he was last year, but he did look good on several plays tonight, and to his credit Wayne and Edmonson Co feature two really good defenses...
tsyoung7 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I agree with SemperFiFalcon that Monroe beat a very good Edmonson Co. team tonight. The score doesn't really show the game because Monroe had one called back and they gave edmonson one late in the 4th off a missed kick attempt. Coach Petett's play calling is IMO at the top of his game, he is calling the right stuff at exactly the right time. This is very helpful to a very young and not to experienced team. This team with a little more effort from the OL could make a real good season but they have to give it every play. To many times tonight we looked at lineman standing up and watching the play go by or hitting once and letting go...very bad for any team, but that is not only the line...some backs need to learn to put it out there for their fellow backs, not only when they get the ball! To many 1/2 blocks all over the field! It is great to walk away with a win but as Coach Petett said tonight, we have a long way to go and a lot of hard work because Monroe's schedule is a very hard one yet to come. Great game Falcons!!! 2-0
rockinroe Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 This was a good hard fought win for the falcons. Edmonson is a solid team with great athletes. I was impressed with Neil, he is definitely as good as advertised. I believe the line will show improvements as the season progresses. Go roe!
SEMPERFIFALCON Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 No doubt the OL has a lot of improving to do, to be quite honest it's time for some guys to man up. Also the defense has to stop giving up the big play, the screen pass and our lack of fundamentals on it drove me crazy tonight as I'm sure it did the coaches, we no doubt have a tough defense but to often we allow teams to convert 3rd and longs as well as 4th down conversions, a lot of that has to do with how aggressive they are, personally I‘ll take an aggressive mistake over a passive one any day. There's one thing I know for sure and that is Coach Petett is not going let this team settle or play below their capabilities, he said he was pleased tonight as I'm sure he was, but you can see he's hungry to get back on the field and fix the mistakes and shortcomings.
FalconBacker Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Congratulations, Monroe County Falcons! Keep getting better so you can punt Green County to the curb - regular season and playoffs!
SPORTY GUY Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Falcons were to me up and down made some good plays but lost a little intensity in the second half. Good to see rushing game looking better but line still has a way to go. Think that team will get better each week and will be ready for big district games down the road.
