RowdyRedRam Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 How Male gets a first place vote is beyond me. Frakes at the CJ posts his votes on his blog (which I think is the right thing to do). Do the others do this also? Further more who are the other voters.

sidelinedoc Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I like the fact that we (Raceland) have been shown some love. I think it is way too early to put much faith in rankings........but I guess you have to have somewhere to start, eh?
mexitucky Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 You could say the same thing for NCC in 2A and Holy Cross in 1A. I was thinking the same thing. Right now Holy Cross in Covington should be higher than the 'Breds. However, that is just for right now.
FC Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I realize one first place vote is not very significant and only represents one voter’s opinion, but in the case of 1A how does the #10 ranked team get a first place vote?

gchs_uk9 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I realize one first place vote is not very significant and only represents one voter’s opinion, but in the case of 1A how does the #10 ranked team get a first place vote? It appears that one voter really liked what Holy Cross did to Franklin County, while the rest don't even know that Holy Cross is in 1A. Truthfully, Louisville Holy Cross should be around 5-7 in Class 1A. The biggest problem with the Kentucky AP poll is there aren't enough voters. There appears to have only been 14 voters; that leaves the door open for too many "homer" voters who plug local teams into the #9 and #10 positions. The college AP poll is more respected because it has more voters; the cream rises to the top of the rankings. Kentucky can't help it, there just aren't enough voters to make this poll very legitimate.
Cover Corner Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 AAA looks pretty good. Russell is down as is Belfry, but their past puts them there untill someone else does enough to pass them. Breathitt & Central are both deserving of the #1 spot, but Central lost and Breathitt won. Seems pretty fain to me.
FC Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I just noticed that there are 13 first place votes for 4A-6A, but 14 first place votes for 1A-3A. Does anyone know why one person did not vote for a first place team in 4A-6A?
SEMPERFIFALCON Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I have to admit I'm a little shocked that Danville is ranked as high as they are, They lost some good players from the third best team in the Region, yet they start the season ranked higher than both the teams that were better than them, and to be honest I feel Monroe and Green are better than them in 09 as well, nothing against Danville as I'm sure they will get better as the season goes on but right now I think they should be in the 9-13 range in 2A…
5wide Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Central should be the #1 team in 3A. They're the defending champs, and while they did lose some excellent football players, they also returned their share of good ones...and they beat the team rated above them 40-19 in the state finals last year. Even if the gap did close, that's still 3 TD's. Maybe later if Breathitt County continues to be impressive and Central loses a few, but not after one week. JMO I'll be keeping an eye on Mason County. After their impressive opener, it looks like the eastern bracket could be even tougher than expected.

My hope is they show vast improvement which depends on getting some players back 100%. I would imagine that #7 ranking has something to do with past history. Things should be clearer in a few weeks.
NKU20 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I was thinking the same thing. Right now Holy Cross in Covington should be higher than the 'Breds. However, that is just for right now. Why?
Voice of Reason Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I just noticed that there are 13 first place votes for 4A-6A, but 14 first place votes for 1A-3A. Does anyone know why one person did not vote for a first place team in 4A-6A? I noticed the same thing. It looks to me like there might be a "renegade" voter on the loose. Maybe there were 14 votes in the upper classes as well but the 14th vote went to a team that isn't even in the top 10? I think someone has some 'splainin to do.
