If it was a safety in question...don't forget the reward is more than 2 points. The team scoring the safety also gets the ball next play on a free kick. A safety is a HUGE momentum driver. P-burg benefited from one back in 1993 (back in the days of yore) long time Ads fans might remember.

You are EXACTLY right. It's no excuse (in regard to ranking considerations), but Prestonsburg's line is young and hasn't seen a solid opposing unit this season (until yesterday). Absolutely NOTHING works on either side of the ball when a team gets outclassed in the trenches. I'm hoping the manhandling they experienced yesterday serves to show them where they are now and where they need to be by season's end. :bunny:

Your post points something out... Beechwood is usually well hardened and battle-tested from playing whatever opponents they see in NKY at this point in the season. It's not really that way this year as their early season foes aren't as strong as they usually are. It's not so much an advantage for Prestonsburg (as the Blackcats have only been tested by Breathitt Co.), as it could be a significant non-advantage for the Tigers. IMO, that makes this an important game for each team. Not as much to get a win, but more to play well against a quality opponent. It usually takes a good team to bring out the best in another. Fans of each team would like to see what that "best" is. :bunny:

I got one thing to ask... When is X going to quit using those nasty yellow uniforms ?!? That color looks awful !! :sssh:

If the game ends up like that, they'll be a lot of folks having chest pain treated before driving back... :eek:

My, my...it's a small world. My wife's father grew up in Caneyville. There used to be quite a BB rivalry between Leitchfield, Caneyville, and Clarkson as he tells me. Loved Pine Knob... !!! :thumb:

The #1 spot doesn't "belong" to Bell Co. This isn't professional boxing we're talking about. The #1 team holds the ranking only as long as a predominance of the participants believes they're the best team. That can (and did) change based on weekly results.

Put another way... Food always tastes best when you're HUNGRY.

LOL...I'm not complaining. I was just a little put out at the Louisvillians and some NKYians belly-aching about being in a car 90 minutes and the WKY people claiming Bowling Green is close to "central KY". Bottom line... the game MUST be at WKU. That's really all that matters.

I just drove to Bowling Green 2 weeks ago. And...my in-laws live in Louisville. The drive is 1 1/2 hour longer to Bowling Green. The stadium and town...I have NO problem with. It's a gorgeous facility and nice city.

I understood that... that's why I wrote what I did. Bowling Green is far more in western KY than Richmond is in eastern KY. Look at a map. :sssh:

Originally, EKU was planned to be built in Prestonsburg. THAT truly would be an Eastern Kentucky University. WKY fans can't complain too much about WKU in Bowling Green. They have a whole other State Univ. in Murray. The only University really in EKY is Morehead State. Geographically, the TRUE center of the state is somewhere in a triangle drawn connecting Richmond, Mt. Vernon, and Bardstown. Maybe we could all take tents and line off a nice farmer's pasture for the games ?!? :sssh:

Bell Co.'s schedule does very little to help them in keeping the top spot. The only team of rank on their schedule is 3A #6 Sheldon Clark. Boyle Co.'s schedule is difficult enough to allow them to control their own destiny for #1 ranking. :bunny:

It's good you didn't mean to disrespect Hazard... I'd favor them in a matchup against Whitley Co.. The Colonels wouldn't match up well with them at all.

hmmm... Was it at the end of the scrimmage vs. Sheldon Clark where he got hurt, then ? (pretty bad when this year's games get scrambled in my brain so easily... :creepy: )
