Prestonsburg Halfway

Featured Replies

How do you think the Blackcats have done so far halfway through the season?

I think they have a real shot at state.

Prestonsburg has done an amazing job so far this season. They have one of the leading passer's in 2A (Michael Burchett), one of the leading rushers (Seth Setser), and one of the leading receivers in 2A (Austin Gearheart). They've done all this mostly without, '07 2000 yard back Allen Craynon who has only played in the Breathitt County game.

The line has been most impressive to me at this point of the season as they have made the holes for the backs and done great at blocking for junior quarterback, Michael Burchett. Injuries have been Prestonsburg's only enemy thus far. But Allen Craynon will be back at 100% for the Beechwood game and he is real eager to get in there and help out do-it-all player Seth Setser.

I hope they make it to Papa John's this season but its no easy task as they will have to more than likely play Middlesboro & Corbin back-to-back during the 2nd & 3rd round of the playoffs, which is no easy task at all.

Best of luck to the Blackcats on the rest of the season!

Point of correction...

Allen Craynon only played fully in the initial game against Paintsville. He tweaked a hamstring toward the end of that contest. He only played a few downs vs. Breathitt Co. - got a long TD run, but he also re-aggrevated the leg injury.

Hamstrings are unpredictable injuries. They're especially tough on speedy slashing type RB's (like Craynon).

;)

Craynon never saw the field against Paintsville. He did ride a stationary bike on and off the whole game to stay loose but wisely was never put in the game. Against Breathitt Co. he carried the ball 10 times and had a reception.

With a healthy Craynon the Blackcats are going to be hard to handle.

hmmm... Was it at the end of the scrimmage vs. Sheldon Clark where he got hurt, then ?

(pretty bad when this year's games get scrambled in my brain so easily... :creepy: )
