  1. hmmm... Was it at the end of the scrimmage vs. Sheldon Clark where he got hurt, then ? (pretty bad when this year's games get scrambled in my brain so easily... :creepy: )
  2. Point of correction... Allen Craynon only played fully in the initial game against Paintsville. He tweaked a hamstring toward the end of that contest. He only played a few downs vs. Breathitt Co. - got a long TD run, but he also re-aggrevated the leg injury. Hamstrings are unpredictable injuries. They're especially tough on speedy slashing type RB's (like Craynon).
  3. But you see, a throwing motion results in the ball going forward. The spot becomes the point on the field where the ball is when it leaves his hand. That becomes the point at which "grounding" is marked.
  4. Both of these teams are the Wildcats...(but I know to whom your refer)
  5. Suggestions: Prestonsburg at Beechwood (unless both teams must be from EKY) Ashland vs. Woodford Co. (same stipulation) Corbin at Middlesboro (for SURE !!) Lawrence Co. at Rowan Co. Whitley Co. vs. Letcher Co. Central
  6. Trinity Lafayette LCA Bullitt Central Conner Elizabethtown Mayfield Middlesboro Fairdale Mason Co. TB - 42
  7. 7 - McCreary Central 5 - Bath Co. 3 - Middlesboro 2 - LCA 1 - Southwestern TB - McCreary Central
  8. Didn't know about the running clock rule. Good rule change, IMO... No, there are a number of players out. Fortunately, most of it is of the bang/sprain variety. The coaching staff is being VERY careful with Allen Craynon - he pulled a hamstring at the end of the first game. As I understand, he should be back in two weeks at Beechwood. :thumb: Craynon's absence has allowed Seth Setser (#5) to shine. He's been a workhorse in this offense along with being part of the defense's core at linebacker. Austin Gearheart (#7) had a big game last night. He caught 3 TD passes and took a punt to the house for another. The most pleasant suprise to me so far this year, though, is how well the offensive and defensive line is coming together. The staff has been doing a very good job with them this year. :bunny:
  9. Just so you don't misread me...Bell Co.'s a great program - one of the best in EKY, without a doubt. Hilton is an elite coach and Bell Co.'s fans support them very well. But... They're certainly not THE elite program in this part of the state. Belfry comes much closer to that. And I find that "call us anytime" smack talk conceited and offensive. :bunny:
  10. Hey...I didn't start the "anyone in the top 10 just give them a call" stuff. :sssh: "Relish the good ole days" ? What are you talking about ?? Bell Co. has never beaten Prestonsburg. If the Bobcats want another shot, Bell Co. can call Prestonsburg. The number is listed...
  11. Running clock from 2nd half kickoff on. Classy decision by Morgan's coach to continue the accelerated clock after the Cougars scored. Odd factoid: P-burg QB Michael Burchett went 4/4 for 4 TD's... The Sorghum Festival is this weekend - ought to make a road trip !!! I think it's my favorite of the EKY fall celebrations... :thumb:
  12. Be careful there... :sssh: Bell Co. has had no interest in scheduling a home/away series with Prestonsburg (since 2004).
  13. I know this is a little more than you asked, but oftentimes folks get some of the seasons mixed up. The '81 and '82 teams both went 10-3. The '83 team went 10-2: 1981 - The losses were to Estill Co. 13-22 (1st game), Paintsville 14-27 (2nd game), and Somerset 0-10 (Qtr. Finals) 1982 - The losses were to Estill Co. 14-27 (1st game, again), Belfry 13-16 (6th game), and Corbin 0-28 (Qtr. Finals) 1983 - The losses came to Pikeville 8-20 (9th game) and Somerset 0-17 (Qtr. Finals) Of note...1983 was Phillip Haywood's last year as Prestonsburg's head coach. Charles ("Chuke") Williams took over in 1984 (with a 9-2 inaugural season). :bunny:
  14. I have most all the historical data of P-burg football. One of these days I'll find the time to put it into a spreadsheet format and send it to the operator of blackcatfootball.com. It would be nice touch to the website archives, I think.
  15. The all-time P-burg/Morgan Co. series is one-sided at 30-3, there were a number of very good ballgames in the 1980's I remember very well. The Cougars have always played hard and conducted themselves with class regardless of the score. :thumb:
  16. We're on the same page. It's my fault in mentioning the 1981 game. My records of P-burg vs. Morgan Co. (from 1980 - 1986) 1980 21-16 P-burg 1981 7-6 P-burg (this is the game I was talking about in my last post) 1982 17-0 P-burg 1983 21-14 P-burg (the game I believe you're referencing and alumni players to be honored) 1984 39-20 P-burg 1985 36-0 P-burg 1986 20-17 Morgan Co.
  17. Actually, the Blackcats are imitating a hospital ward right now. Look for Coach D. to pull his uninjured starters as quickly as the game allows. So...I doubt the final score of this one will be too one-sided (as many are expecting). :sssh:
  18. Wait a minute... The 10-0 snow game vs. Somerset happened in 1981. The P-burg/Morgan Co. game that year ended 7-6 in a killer defensive struggle. I knew those dates didn't seem right cause my brother graduated in '83 and wasn't able to play his senior year. In 1983, P-burg lost to Somerset 17-0 (Somerset was just plain better). I didn't go to that one.
  19. What a bad thing to have coupled to a ballgame... That was the coldest I ever got at a football game, and the most frightened I've been on a trip home. There were white-out conditions (and at night) almost to Manchester. Neither Somerset, nor P-burg could move the ball on the opposing defense (and the snow/ice). Somerset scored converting a Blackcat fumble and a punt miscue (the punter missed the ball with his foot in a gusting wind) into a TD and FG. It was the last high school football game played by my brother. He blew out his knee during practice before the next season. ____________________________________ Sounds like a nice even planned, Nets... :thumb:
  20. Valley Traditional was the most affected by the power outage. The Vikings only had nine games scheduled after their season opener was scrubbed for reasons unknown to me. Their game with Fairdale, since it was district, will hopefully be rescheduled. However, the Vikings open date was the week before the wind storm. I don't know when they'll be able to make it up. And to date, Valley has only ONE game under its belt...
  21. Yes, bugatti posted the same info in the EKY, WKY, and Central Week #4 Regional results threads. Though none of them involved Louisville teams, maybe there's some aspect of the season-long (cumulative) contest that puts the Louisville Regional participants at a disadvantage ?
  22. Never mind... I see the same thing is posted in all the other area contests. :creepy:
  23. Absolutely on the mark... :thumb: Lawrence Co. is rebuilding the right way - with correct fundamentals. It's obvious if you watch them. As long as players/coaches/fans don't get disheartened by the L's, the Bulldogs will be back. Everyone needs to avoid comparing this team to the Dawgs of the late '90s. That group was the culmination of a lot of hard work for almost a decade in building the program. It isn't fair to the current team.
