  1. Dale Mueller gets more out of his players than any coach around, and quite often upsets the few better teams they play (see CCH '05). In high school, it is very difficult to beat a team that has more talent unless the other staff happens to be a trainwreck (see TM '07). Mueller received some very unfair critcism in '05 after the LexCath loss; LC was very talented and very well coached (Spire took an also-ran in GA to the Finals). Highlands fans should be extremely thankful they have such a top notch coach coaching their sons (I think most are).
  2. If Tony G. does hold onto the starting position, will Bardo be a TE, WR, LB, CB, S, or part time QB????
  3. Too bad Brian Brohm isn't the QB of all the "top level" teams....that Trinity team was the elite team in the history of KY football; there has been no equal to them.
  4. It is awfully early to be pulling a scholarship????
  5. The East offense went up and down the field and outgained the West; the West did little outside of 3 long passes. Ryan Ball had been a running back his entire career until last year and still returned punts, and he rushed for well over 150 yards in the all star game, and was voted the offensive MVP by the coaches. As the Guru mentioned, Molony came down with mono. Bricking was the only QB; the staff did not get to pick or recruit their roster; there was not another passer on the roster; (Miller was one of only 3 CBs and Cecil missed a lot due to running in the state track meet);Bricking also threw 2 TD passes and completed close to 20 balls.
  6. Ball ran a lot and very well. A kid from Dayton and Newport had multiple carries. Furnisch did indeed have carries and caught a few screens. Palmer from Holmes caught several balls; a kid from Campbell caught several balls; Casson from CCH caught several; Detmer caught a couple before he was hurt; Miller from Holmes ran a reverse; Bricking completed a lot of passes. Only so many people can touch the ball; I bet fewer players from the West touched it than from the East!!!!! I asked the coaches about the end of the half; they had 2 plays called and got the 2nd one off with 5-6 seconds left; Bricking just fumbled the ball. It sure is easy to criticize from afar(not knowing the facts).
  7. If Ball had a great game what was the problem?? The coaching staff not trying? That sounds a little silly. The East outgained the West by a lot; the East had 3 bad plays defensively; the West defense played well inside the "red" zone. It sounds like you are just a CCH/Brossart hater....
  8. Because it is baseball season and not football season; from what I have read, they will be there in the Summer. Kids are kids ONCE; they should participate in every event they can while they are still young.
  9. He could very well earn a scholarship at UK; he is a tremendously strong athlete as well to go with his speed.
  10. CCH and Highlands should be on opposite sides of the state like X and Trinity.
  11. Mooney lost 28-27 in the Div IV State Championship to Coldwater, who obviously is very, very, very good.
  12. Keep in mind Bluebird fans, the Herbstreit is OH vs. the USA; last season you were part of the USA(like CovCath is vs. Cardinal Mooney); they invite different teams every season; CovCath will not be invited back next season, nor will the Bluebirds more than likely. There have been some rumblings on BGP that Louisville St. X is going next year; I don't know if it's official.
  13. Coach Ray called the defense; maybe he was given the title of DC, but Coach Ray always called the defense.
  14. Trotwood-Madison won only one game in the OH playoffs in Div II (2nd largest), and that was an ovetime win over Edgewood. They were an above average team in their class in OH (OH has the top 8 teams in each region make the playoffs, just like KY). Considering the Div I talent they had, they were significant underachievers.
  15. He was never the DC at CovCath; he coached there under Coach Ray and Coach Ray always called the defense.
  16. Obviously a good win, but Trotwood did only win 1 game in the Div II OH playoffs, and that took overtime; they were extremely talented, but not a great "team," as the Bluebirds were.
  17. They also made a good decision by not jumping into varsity football right away and have taken their time to build the program. Jumping right in is a mistake some other programs have made; right from the start, the kids only learn how to lose and get embarrased which does not attract athletes that may be on the fence about playing football.
  18. Weight room work can have EVERYTHING to do with keeping a better athlete off the boards. If an appreciably stronger athlete gets into a more athletic player, he or she for that matter, will be able to create some space to rebound the basketball. Of course I am talking about strong basketball players- not just muscle-bound kids that can't hoop.
  19. First of all, I asked a simple question. Secondly, you can't possibly be arguing that strenth does not help a player seal off a more athletic player........can you????
  20. I keep hearing of Holmes's dominance on the boards; would a more stringent weight program help CCH??? (or do they hit the weights hard already?)
  21. How ironic considering his criticism after his loss to CCHS.....
  22. They obviously can't because a representative from each school is present during the draw.
