Mythical Highlands '07 vs. CovCath '06

Featured Replies

I haven't got out to see High School football as much as I would of liked the last couple years. So I can't really answer this...However, I was wondering which HHS Team was better, 07 or 04?

^ I think that '04 had more "star" power if you would, but '07 was a nasty edition.

I watched the 04 team atleast half a dozen times if not more, including the championship game. They were pretty solid.

To address the original thread's topic, I think the big question would be the extent to which HHS would be able to get a lot of pressure against CCH's QB and disrupt CCH's backfield. This could be a key to the game, in my opinion.

It would be a great game!

To address the HHS 04 vs 07 debate, I think it would be the 07 team. The defenses were probably close to each other, but HHS 07's depth and offensive abilities would have been decisive.

No Contest. Highlands would win by at least 21.

No contest. CCH wins.

It would be helpful if BGP'ers could give some information to back up their answers.

I'll add a couple of thoughts, one positive for each team...

In 2006, HHS lost on a last-second TD pass by CCH in a game that easily could have gone the other way, which would have given HHS home-field advantage against CCH for the playoff rematch (which CCH had won by 10 at CCH). I think that in every respect (even probably with O-line play, which was HHS' signature strength in 2006), 2007 HHS was better than 2006 HHS, and certainly had more depth. So, I think all this points to a comparative advantage for 2007 HHS being better than 2006 CCH.

CCH in 2006 had a very well-rounded team, and their offense had a great deal of balance (being able to consistently and effectively run and pass the ball). I am not so sure that 2007 HHS faced an opponent with nearly this level of all-around team ability and offensive balance. Twice in 2007, HHS had its hands totally full with an opponent (against Trotwood-Madison - HHS won by only 4, and against Louisville Central - HHS won by 8 and was trailing very late in the game), and I definitely think that 2006 CCH was a better team than either T-M or Central. So, this would seem to given 2006 CCH a comparative advantage.

One last thing... unless there was an unexpected injury or something, I find it hard to believe that one of these two teams would blow out the other one.

Probably need to get non CovCath and non Highlands people on this. All the CovCath people are going to say CovCath wins and most of the Highlands people are going to take the Birds by a score of 237 to -2.

Do you think the fade that won in 06 for CCH gets completed in 07? I'll go with the 07 Birds in this match.

Not a chance Collinsworth would of either knocked it down or picked it off...:thumb:

Was CovCath undefeated in '06?

Was CovCath undefeated in '06?

The Colonels were undfeated against Highlands.

Did Highlands play any GCL South teams in '07?

Highlands would win comfortably.
