Great game by both team!

This was a great game played by both team's. Congratulation's Bulldogs.

The all tourney team includes Sorrell, Romes, Avery, Johnson, Clark, Bondick, Shover, and Henderson is the MVP.

I have a question, how many of you listened to the CovCath Internet Broadcast of this game tonight? Just curious?

No, Holmes has been the #1 team in NKy since Bondick went down with his injury. Both CovCath losses to Holmes have been on the Holmes floor. Last year CovCath beat Holmes three straight times twice on the CovCath floor and once on a netural floor (LexCath) but lost to Holmes in the Region fianl in OT at Holmes. So if the MO stays the same and both teams meet again at Conner, look for CovCath to come out the winner in that game! At least I hope so...

A major rematch obstacle is the fact that CovCath/Birds will match up in quarters or semis barring upset. There is only one scenario where Holmes will get tested in round one and that is if they face Conner at Conner if Conner loses to St. H.

Not necessarily. Highlands and Holmes could on the same side of the bracket just as easily as CovCath and Highlands.

Not really, as I have seen the winner of the 35th get a tougher draw than the loser on occassion.

Thanks for that correction. It sounds like the draw will be awfully important as I think there are only 3 teams capable of winning the region.

Just got in from the game and man was that gym packed. Those who weren't there, missed a great high school game.

 

Holmes jumped out early and held a 4 point lead throughout the first quarter and pretty much scored at will. Henderson couldn't be stopped and neither could Holmes offense.

 

Second quarter CCH came back and took a 6 point lead, but as Holmes has done all year, they went on a run and regained the lead and led by 1 at halftime.

 

Second half Holmes led the whole way until the last two minutes of the game. I believe Schmerge hit a 3 to tie the game but questionable calls and 3 straight turnovers set up that opportunity for CCH. CCH would miss a shot, Holmes would get the ball and turn it over.

 

The only thing that kept Covcath in the game was that they were hot from behind the arc. I believe Holmes had maybe one or two.

 

Maile of CCH impressed me the most. He played a great game and was very good inside and out and came up with some big rebounds.

 

All in all a great game but Holmes should have put the game away in regulation. A missed one and one gave CCH the chance to hit the tying 3 and as all good teams do, CCH came through in the clutch.

 

Holmes IMO though is the best team and will come out of the 9th. Home court advantage or not, Holmes depth wore out CCH tonight. In OT you could see how tired the players were and Holmes kept running.
