I think CCH biggest problem is they don't have 4 other Maile's who are as aggressive as him on the boards. That kid is a work horse. In that category, Holmes is definetly better than CCH. CCH does have the better shooters though.

I think too much is being put in to the fact that the last 3 games have been on Holmes floor and Holmes has won all 3.

 

It took a last second 3 by Jacobs or Bovard (not sure which one) to beat Holmes last year on CCH home floor, so the same could be said about CCH only being able to beat Holmes on their home floor.

 

Yes I know CCH beat Holmes on a neutral floor but it was by 1 and in double OT.

 

This is such a great rivalry it doen't really matter where they play. The better team is going to win. Also this year's squads for both teams are completely different than the games being referred to. I really don't think it matters where they play this year. Holmes is just better than CCH unlike in years past where they were pretty even.

 

The argument after the first game was that Bondick was out and thats why Holmes won. Now CCH loses with BOndick in the lineup, (who fouled out), and the CCH faithful are buying in to the fact that it was home court advantage that allowed Holmes to win.

 

A little bit too much homerism on some of your alls part. I think Holmes needs to be credited a little more than what they're getting. This year Holmes undoubtedly has the more talent, deeper bench, and is the better team.

 

If CCH wins a rematch, I'll be more than happy to root for them.

I did not think Holmes played particularly well last night defensively or offensively. The only thing working at the offensive end was Henderson takin it to the hole and jumping over people. I think that component will be there every night. R. Johnson did not play as well as he has been, and defensively, other than Henderson, I didn't see a lot of heat on the ball. On the other hand, CovCath got white hot when they had to in the final minutes. If they bury 3 after 3 after 3 like they did last night at the end of regulation, they can stay with anybody.

 

We'll see what happens next week.

Scoreboard, Click on that link. It will then take you to the scoreboard site and click on the Boy's Basketball Socreboard. Then that will take you to a page showing you the different years that they have in their data base. They have the years from 97/98 to Present. Click on any one of those, then look around for the teams, or tournaments be they district/region that you wish. Great sight for information. Weight room work has nothing to do with keeping Holmes off the boards. Unfortunately, CCH can get into bad habits against almost every other team and simply turn and go get the ball. You can't do that against Holmes. If I were Coach L, the main thing I'd be practicing would be teaching the players to first find their man and then GO TO their man, put the rear end on their man, and then go get the ball. I saw hardly any true blockouts last night and CCH paid for it. If you don't block out properly against Holmes, you lose because they score the majority of their points on offensive rebounds.

Arrez had a great game offensively including the OT. He averages about 18 a game and had 18 the end of regulation. Average game for him for four quarters.

Henderson definetly has D1 skills. Just doesn't have the D1 height. At 6' it'd be tough for him to run the point at a high D1 level. He could do it IMO because he has the work ethic to get better, but it'd be tough.

 

I think Ricardo Johnson has a better chance at going high D1 though. At 6'4 he has the height and frame to play point guard or 2 guard in college.

Most Likely is. He doesn't have the height for high D1. Does he have the talent and ability ? Yes. With that being said though he'll be a good small D1 High D2 player.

I'd say that's probably about right, but he's got better guard skills than are apparent right now. The end of last year, when he wasn't doing the inside scoring, he showed a good outside stroke and handled the ball more than he has this year. Last year when Jefferson got in foul trouble, Arrez and Hill split the ball handling duty. This year, Avery and the kid off the bench bring it up. I think he's got better "2" skills than a lot of people realize, but even with that his size is tough to sell as a D1 "2".

He didn't take many shots. 11 was about right for the amount of times he shot the ball. He also had a nasty dunk that made the Blitz5 beauty of the week.
