  1. No teams in KY had the talent of Glenville or Colerain; interestingly enough St. X, who only had 2 kids go to Div. I schools won the championship. Doesn't sound like a level playing field, but St. X somehow got it done.
  2. You can act like you are all-knowing and the theories are absolute all you want, but human bodies react differently. The way you are talking every 6'2 200 lb. athlete's body is the made the same way and reacts the same way to strength training and stretching. That is preposterous. If an athlete maintains the same turnover and his stride is longer, he will get faster. And lengthening one's stride is certainly not going to automatically slow one's turnover down as you imply. And for every scientific study you want to cite, I can find another scientist who will prove the opposite-(like scientists on are both sides of the argument of the effects of the holes in the ozone layer upon the Earth.)
  3. Interesting comment; I never thought of how different the attitude in Ft. Thomas must have been then. Could you enlighten us a little? How much time is required in Jan.-May and June-July before 2/3 a days?
  4. How many people reach their genetic limit to size and speed? Very few, if any, work at their maximum potential for the maximum amount of years to reach their full capacity in size and speed. SOME athletes may be fast without much flexibility, but to say that is true for all athletes is just as inaccurate. If a player's stride is limited by a lack of flexibility, he certainly isn't going to be as fast as he once was. Every athlete is different; I'll take my chances with my athletes being flexible. A sore athlete due to weightlifting or training is not going to move as freely as one who is not sore. Again I'll take my chances with stretching for performance and injury prevention. Medicine and the study of the human body is a PRACTICE, not a SCIENCE. People are going to have differing opinions.
  5. Back to the Spring game.... Did any team in the state have a game to rival the Birds' Spring game????
  6. One reason Trinity improved last season is some players starting playing both ways, which earned them a State Championship! If there are plenty of skilled athletes, then maybe they should be fine-tuning their passing game.
  7. The way I heard it was a player had to run a certain distance in a certain time; if he couldn't do it, then he couldn't play(unless you were a talented 300 lb. linemen that would never be able to make the time on your best day). Those talented ones were allowed to still play.
  8. Some are separating strength and speed as if they are mutually exclusive; with strength(AND FLEXIBILITY) will also come speed!
  9. I don't agree with his philosophy in any way shape or form, but in actuality he made conditions so that they cut themselves. No one in Ft. Thomas would have allowed him to cut players. I believe we mean the same thing, just a different way to phrase it.
  10. If a coach doesn't use every resource available, then he is not maximizing the potential of his athletes. To make excuses is to settle for less than one's best. One point I'm getting at is no one in Ft. Thomas has ever cried about the unfair advantage private schools have or the unfair advantage the bigger schools have. They just flat out work harder than anyone and take advantage of the talents of their players by implementing a system that works best for them. Once Summer comes, they'll put in more productive hours than anyone in the state. It is more than just Spring Practice.
  11. Your mention of Duffy shows beyond all doubt that the kids in Ft. Thomas will NOT do anything-his roster was down to high 20's and low 30's!!!
  12. Coach Dale Mueller and the Bluebirds put on quite a spectacle at their Spring Game a couple of weeks ago. #1 offense vs. #1 defense- offense drives some, defense stops On sprints- #2 offense vs. #2 defense- offense moves it a little #1's back on; this went on for about an hour with about 50 kids getting reps. How many other teams in the state are this organized; someone said Highlands is better right now than a lot of teams are in November!!! I hate to admit it, but they are probably right, and I root against Highlands in virtually every game they play. But I certainly respect them and know that Coach Mueller gets more out of his players than anyone in the state.
  13. Guru, Where or how did they improve? Their schedule showed nothing-ncc wasnt nearly as good as the last 2 years-middlesboro wasnt close to their state championship team-the rest of the district was not very good-sk and holmes were average at best-even highlands got drilled by rockastle who was handled by boyle-that was the worst beechwood team to ever make it to the finals-imho.
  14. Guru, Who did beechwood beat that demonstrated they "put it all together"? ??????
  15. For what it is worth lloyd beat beechwood by about 16 points-lloyd was eliminated by mason co. and beechwood lost to mayfield by a touchdown.
  16. Where's the drain? One school hosts, they pay tournament expenses out of the money generated through the gate, ads, & concession and divide the profit among the schools. If they are going to call it All "A" it should be an All "A" tournament.
