I need some help on background of the 15-0 state champs - how many guys did they have that went both ways? And how many players out of each class (soph, jr., sr.) started and how many out of each class were on the varsity roster? Thanks to anybody with answers.

Varsity roster: 23 Soph; 16 Jr; 23 SRs Offense = 9 SRs + 2 Jr.s Defense = 8 Sr. + 1 Jr + 2 So. (though several others rotated liberally). Two -way players: 3-SR's... 4 when Cecil played D (very sparingly) and even the 3 Sr's rotated liberally. We don't have separate rosters (JV-VARSITY)...all one team!

Thanks. I also looked for a recap of the Trotwood Madison game and couldn't find one. It looks like that was the closest the Birds came to an L - was it close or was the final score deceiving?

It was a close game. The score was not deceiving at all. The Central game was also close (late 4th quarter rally by the Birds enabled them to win that game). But having watched both games, the Central game should have not been as close as the Trotwood game. The talent level on the Trotwood team was truly amazing. Don't get me wrong, the Central team was very good and very talented, but not as talented as the Trotwood team. Heck, there were very few teams in the whole state of Ohio that had the talent of Trotwood. What did they have 6 or 7 kids that went D1?

Good thing football games only have 4 quarters. The Central game could've become a blowout with more time. And the Trotwood game, well lets just say I'm happy the game ended when it did.

...and would have been a LOSS with just a little less time! It was just the wake-up call the Birds needed to refocus and start their blitzkrieg to the title! I hope the younger Birds took notice and will be hungry to keep the streak going!!

Obviously a good win, but Trotwood did only win 1 game in the Div II OH playoffs, and that took overtime; they were extremely talented, but not a great "team," as the Bluebirds were.

I think you two just agreed with each other and I will third the motion. Fantastic talent, average team at best considering the talent.

Central made a pivotal mistake in that 4th quarter. They started a mini brawl in front of their bench, their entire team surrounded a couple of Bluebird players and started pushing and woofing. That fired the Birds up. That woke the sleeping giant! The game was completely different from that point on.

Highlands 2007 team was just loaded. Got to watch them out at Dixie -- that game was over early. Highlands just seems to always have the talent. Best thing I liked about the 2007 team was they never show boat -- they just played -- kept it all on the field.

Very classy assessment... I agree with you 100%. They played hard, had some fun and showed class from the 1st game of the season all the way to the state championship!

As DMZ76 previously mentioned, I also hope the younger Birds took note and will follow in the same foot steps as the 2007 squad. And, I am sure they will! :thumb:

Hey question for some folks in the know. Who took the photo of the 2007 Seniors that was under the scoreboard throughout the year. I was up the field the other day and noticed the spot where it was and it reminded me of it. Oh, by the way, who ever took it off, thanks for that. Now we need to have the plexi-glass donated again. Broken! Ever here of a utility knife? :irked:

DARN.....I heard that a "life-sized" photo of Leatherneck was going to go into that spot!

He isn't in town today so I'll do this for him.:irked::irked::irked::lol:

Are you going to film practice for him, or will Dale wait until he gets back?
