Now that the Class 5A preview has been released by BGP, let's have a vote to see which 5A team you predict BGP will rank as number 1 in its first (preseason) poll.

NOTE: This is not a vote about which team you think will be the best heading into the season, but rather which team BGP will rank first.

It will be interesting to compare how teams fare in this poll to how BGP actually ranks them in a few weeks!

Until they are defeated, the defending and undefeated class 5-A state champion Highlands Bluebirds, with a string of 15 victories in a row, have earned the honor of being ranked #1.

As a rule of thumb we don't look at rankings that way.

Did you feel that way last July?

I think that you really have to take a good look at the current talent level at a school, just as much (if not more) than how they did last year. Cases in point: 1. Highlands in 2005 was nowhere near the team they were in 2004 when they won state. The talent level and experience level were much different; 2. CovCath in 2007 was clearly not at the same level as they were the previous year when they won state. Going from beating Highlands twice in a matter of a few weeks (the second game being a double-digit win) to going 0-2 against them (including a 40-0 drumming) the next year pretty much sums it up.

When will the rankings for each class be released?

As much as it pains me, I would have to agree with DMZ. Undefeated and state champs, and from what I here (not through BGP), reloading of talent. It seems pretty difficult for them not to be rank #1.

I would like to put John Hardin at #1, but Highlands seems to be able to win the big games when needed. With that being said Highlands #1 John #2 and after that there seems to be about four or five teams with goods squads. Looking forward to the up coming season just not getting here fast enough.

As much as I would like to agree, I have to throw my Purples @ #2. But Im hoping CCH is there for my own selfish reasons....

I’m afraid if Highlands were not ranked #1 the Bluebird fans might mutiny and send BGP into financial collapse due to lack of membership. :D
