USA Today is reporting that Covington Catholic will play Youngstown Cardinal Mooney on August 30 at 5pm in Canton, Ohio, as part of the 2008 Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge.

I do remember reading that Highlands sort of "backed" into the Herbie last year, as another non-Ohio team that was invited first declined, and then the offer was extended to Highlands.

 

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I was never under the impression that HHS was likely to be re-invited for a second year.

 

Also, keep in mind that CovCath will be playing at the Canton venue (i.e. the Herbie-North), and not the Cincinnati location (i.e. the Herbie-South), which is where HHS played last year.

 

The matchup between CCH and Cardinal Mooney should be an interesting one!

I would imagine that we already had a game scheduled for the 30th. I am thinking the Colerain game is the same weekend...

Cardinal Mooney always has a mean team. There not as good as a Colerain but better than a LaSalle usually. If I'm not mistaken they have been to the D IV state championship 3-4 times in the last 5 years. CovCath will have their hands full.
