Mooney is a very strong program and will be a real challenge for CovCath, but we'll be pulling for you guys.

 

I agree and I will be pulling for the Colonels too. As a matter of fact, any true fan of KY high school football will be pulling for CCH in this one.

 

I think bear's comments are right on with Mooney. However, I believe this is a more favorable match up for CCH than playing LaSalle.

 

This brings me to another point. Slowly Coach Brossart is working the Colonel schedule to the proper level. For several years the schedule has been a little too much. In the future I think the Colonels need to drop Elder and maybe Louisville St. Xavier and pick up the likes of LexCath and Indian Hill, OH.

I agree with this. Covcath's old coach, Coach Rodenburg, had the team playing a very tough schedual.

You could not be more right that Brossart needs to scale down the schedule to match the talent coming up. You could not be more wrong that it was too strong in the past. They were a holding call away from beating Moeller at PBS. They were a fumble on the 5 from beating Elder at Nippert. They were a storm and 25 MPH winds away from beating St. X at their place. They were also a couple of special teams gaffs from maybe beating St. X at CovCath. I also believe they lost 21-15 at St. X about 4 years ago. Those games prepared them for their 2006 title.

Would just love to make a point without the Birds fans coming out swinging. Tough scheduling gets talent ready for post season. Tough scheduling with lack of talent gets you ready for the physical therapy with the trainers. The best thing about CovCath winning once in a while is you get a year off from comments like this one.

I don't think anyone came out swinging. They just pointed out the obvious. Anybody can claim this play or that play, or ten plays, kept them from competing with other teams.

He is not claiming that we got unlucky in losing to those teams. He is just disagreeing with an earlier made assessment that CovCath's schedule was too hard in '06 and the several preceding years. I happen to believe that playing Moeller, Elder, and St. X largely (even those CovCath lost) helped that '06 team prepare to beat Highlands twice in a season, something they haven't done in a long time.
