  1. Here is the word I am getting from a spouse of an FHS coach of a different sport. Most of their coaches recieved letters stating they were letting them go, however most had the option to come back at a lower pay scale (a way to save money). I am not sure if that option was available with this particular job or not.
  2. He coached Frankfort's girls team last year and did not coach this year.
  3. I believe the list is: Berea Lyon Co. Warren Central Graves Co. Henderson Co. Greenwood Shelby Co. Daviess Co. Lexington Catholic Dupont Manual
  4. If this is true, he coaches softball as well. So that would be three vacancies.
  5. Coach Forrest said he wanted to play for several years. The parents gave in (and let him wear shorts) and let him play this year. I know that Coach Lane from Transy was at their game with Western Hills to watch him. He had a very good game against Hills, he is quite a physical player. Good luck to the Colonels in Rupp.
  6. There are a lot of people in Frankfort (from Frankfort, Franklin Co. and Western Hills) who agree with you. Teams from the 8th have to drive through Frankfort (i.e Anderson and Henry/Owen) to play each other.
  7. Both are correct. Alumni Cloesium is the building. McBrayer Arena is the court and bleacher area.
  8. Here are the draw results. In bracket order. Model @ Lexington Catholic 3/7 Frankfort @ Scott County 3/8 Bryan Station @ Western Hills 3/7 Tates Creek @ Madison Central 3/8 Semis at EKU 3/10 1:00 and 2:45 Finals @ EKU 3/13 7:30
  9. Great game!!!! Western Hills wins their first district championship since the 1988-89 season. Very exciting finish on a Tyler Combess runner with 4 seconds to go. The guys from Frankfort fought their hearts out. It is a shame that someone had to take a loss in this one, because both teams left it all on the floor. Good luck to both in regionals.
  10. Great kid, outstanding student, and a tremendous athlete. He was the running back/def. back on the football team, point guard on the basketballl team, and a state finalist in hurdles for the track team. Not to mention being a Governer's scholar. Good luck Tyler
  11. I sure would have like to see him wait until Friday to get it, but Congrats to Coach Rison. He is a good friend, great coach and a class act. Montgomery's new facilities are very nice as well.
  12. In the 1950 or 60s there were two schools Winchester High and Clark County The two merged and became George Rogers Clark High School, however most people still knew them as Clark County (probably from their success in basketball when Letcher Norton won the state in 1951). It is also a mouthful to say George Rogers Clark when you could just say Clark, plus the idea of saying the county allows people to recognize where they are from. Hope this helps.
  13. If the team doesn't put a player in the book and enters him into the game, That is an indirect technical. It is not a team foul but is a technical.
  14. Hard fought game by both teams. Field conditions were very muddy. WH made some big plays in the first half and got a safety in the second half.
  15. Dwight Anderson transferred to USC after his sophomore year didn't he?
  16. I read in newspaper that MMI Alumni were upset because the school was going to take the focus off of military and more on prep school type atmosphere. The alumni said they were ok with a name change but refused to financially support the school if they weren't going continue the military tradition of the school. the entire alumni board actually quit when they heard that the new Forest Hill Academy was going to de-emphasize the military. The school had to have an auction to pay the teachers. The town has also lost it's bank and elementary school in recent years. They were the 1927 state champs in basketball
  17. At the schools I have worked with, the revenue sports (football and basketball) gates go into the general athletic fund and they basically fund the other non-revenue sports. Many schools are starting to charge a gate at all of their events though and all of the money is poooled into the GA fund
  18. GRC also beat Boone County in the round before they played Trinity. Beating all three (St. X, T, and Boone) was an incredible task. They also did it using the old wing-t offense. That was a very talented team under coach Don Danko.
  19. I meant have they looked at actually moving some teams out that were so far apart? Just a question, not a suggestion.
