Do Cheerleaders Get Part of the Gate?

Featured Replies

I was thinking how much , if any, of the gate should the cheerleaders get. I had never considered that before. Do schools allocate gate receipts to the cheerleaders?

For the record, CCH does not give any of their gate receipts to cheerleaders.

I've never seen cheerleaders for a CCH game but if they have them I'd imagine that they would come from Notre Dame Academy.

As far as cheerleaders getting a piece of the gate money...I don't think they should and IF they do it should not be for that much of a percentage. In all fairness, I do consider competitive cheerleading to be a sport BUT at games, they should not get the gate money because they're not the ones people go to the games to watch.

Now if they were to have cheerleading competitions then they should keep that gate money but until then they shouldn't get it...in my opinion at least.

I always thought that a portion of the gate went into an Athletic fund that funds all sports, cheerleaders included.

Statman,

What about the parents/friends/relatives of the cheerleaders that pay to come to a game because their daughter/friend/relative is cheering?

I knew someone would ask this question. This would also lead to the band getting part of the gate as well.

Although, again, CCH does not share with its band.

What about the marching band?

Sorry, I posted just after the above.

I had plenty of people come to watch me cheer in high school at T games...they paid to get in...

Back in the day at T. Anything that we needed we paid for ourselves..not sure that is the case today.

Concessions go to = whoever. (depends) I've seen lots of bands do the football concession while another group does the basketball concessions.

Or The site based council can let it rotate from group to group.

Ticket sales often would go in an Athletic fund, but I guess that isn't always the case.

Lots of parents do pay to watch their child play in the band or cheer at the game.

As for band and cheerleading competitions, as soon as the football team starts showing up and providing a service at those events, they should be included in the profit from the band and cheerleaders.

I guess it could change from district to district.

I was under the impression that cheerleaders considered the games to be practice.

Now this is funny.

Now this is funny.

But true. How many cheerleaders actually know what's happening out on the field/court?

I can't recall exactly if it was last year or the year before, but one of the high schools playing on Saturday morning of the Sweet 16 had to use their middle school cheerleaders because some brainchild had the bright idea to schedule a statewide competition at the same time as the semifinal games, and naturally the varsity cheerleaders went to their competition rather than cheer for their team — which is their raison detre, isn't it?

I did...

I did...

That's just it! Even as recently as when I was in HS, the girls actually paid attention to the games. Nowadays, it seems to me that the games are just a big inconvenience for the cheerleaders. I find that to be inexcusable.
