  1. The Wolverines have gone a long way toward improving already by retaining their coaching staff for more than one year. The continuity should help them continue what they started last year. Good Luck to Coach Miller and Western Hills in 2007!
  2. Congratulations, Larry! Good luck and have a great career at Union!
  3. Good Luck to Coach Walker in wherever he chooses to go. He has done a great job with the FCHS program.
  4. Those are the kids we get the privilege of following and watching at the next level or levels. They are still a role player. Their role: LEADER.
  5. Excellent Post! The sooner a coach gets this idea sold to his team, the quicker his team wins consistently. A player who can or will do "all of the above" is a rare commodity.
  6. Congratulations to a great athlete who always shows class in whatever he does.
  7. Combess played well. Hard-nosed as always. Played good defense and protected the ball from a hard pressing Bryan Station. Congratulations to him and all the Western Hills team on a turnaround season. You will be hearing from them in the future.
  8. The horse Upset actually beat Man-O-War in the Derby, his only defeat.
  9. All Western Hills has to do to get to the Sweet 16 is beat the third ranked team in the state, then they get the winner of the 10th and 12th ranked team in the state. After that, they have would probably be facing either the number 1 or number 6 team in the state in the finals. Piece of cake! Welcome to the 11th Region.
  10. I agree totally, Coach. You show me a tape of any basketball game at any level and I can pick out at least 10 judgement calls that a referee, who is standing 3 feet away, makes that I see differently from my seat in the stands 50-100 feet away. Those calls, right or wrong, affect the game no more than a kid dribbling the ball off his foot or missing a free throw. It is just part of the game. To complain about a referee takes the focus off the true stars of the game, the two teams that played their hearts out and represented their schools with class and dignity.
  11. An absolutely great high school basketball game. Players and coaches laying it all on the line, great fan support and enthusiasm on both sides, and a packed house. Everybody should have won. Congratulations to both Coach Welch and Coach Byars! Josh Smith and E.J. Fields were huge for Frankfort, along with a clutch performance from Keri Metcalf when Zed Smith was injured. Great performance all week by Cameron Jouett and Mico Wells was rock solid on the point. John Kendell was outstanding all week and was truly the MVP. Jay Van, Matt Hyatt, Kris Toles and Mike Satterwhite all changed the game toward a Hills victory at one time or another and Tyler Combess played with a "refuse to lose" attitude resulting in the last shot to seal the win. Great job, Everyone! Good luck in the Regional Tournament.
  12. Tyler Combess has signed with Georgetown College. Congratulations to Tyler and good luck as a Tiger!
