As to point No. 3, are you sure the Kenton Co. School District accepts out of district students? If so, is there a reciprocity agreement in place between Kenton Co. and Beechwood? If there is no reciprocity agreement, what tuition is charged by Kenton Co.?

Unless something has changed recently (like real recently) the transfer rule is the same regardless of whether it's public to public; public to private; private to public or private to private. The change in residence is one exception to the automatic one year of ineligibility. Pouncy may have complied with another exception if there was no change in residence.

No kidding. At this point I'd have to predict it's going to be a long Highlands frosh football season on here. Seems like it's more than just the kids that are going to have to adjust to high school football.

Sounds like Boyle (and their D in particular) should be a great challenge for the Birds. I liked what I saw of the returning QB. Really looking forward to this game. I have no reason to doubt that Boyle will put a very disciplined, talented and well coached squad on the team.

The Court sees nothing in the record of any attempt by defense to console anyone. This Court appreciates Prosecution's attempt to blur the issue. The issue with this Court is the need for adults to criticize a coach for his attempt to motivate his players, a technique that the facts show has proven to be highly successful. The Court notes that Coach Mueller has won 10 Kentucky football championships, more than any other coach in Kentucky history. Being a fan of "if it works, keep doing it", this Court finds Coach Mueller's motivational comments about his team's goal of being nationally ranked extremely effective in motivating his players. This Court notes that Mr. Prosecutor is a fan of Raceland and hence and therefore lacks standing to criticize Highlands' coach, his comments, his motivational techniques, his hat, his dog or even the weeds in his yard. Furthermore, Mr. Prosecutor lacks standing to even criticize Coach Mueller for wearing black socks whilst wearing shorts and running shoes. As to whether Highlands is a national power, this Court judicially notices the website Highlands Bluebirds - High School Football Program Information Website. That website states that Highlands has been nationally ranked in the top 25 football teams 8 times. Furthermore, in 2009 (the year Coach Mueller stated his team should be considered as the top team), a respected national ranking service ranked Highlands No. 3 in the country. This Court finds that Coach Mueller's comments were justified in light of such ranking. As to whether some Highlands fans can consider themselves a "national power", this Court notes the rather arbitrary and unscientific manner in which national rankings are conducted. That having been said, 8 national rankings does demonstrate at least some support for such consideration. With the prosecution having relied on comments made by Coach Mueller duing the 2009 season as the sole facts supporting the prosecution's argument, this Court questions why the prosecution is living so far in the past and reminds Mr. Prosecutor that this is 2012. This Court questions the prosecution's rationale and motivation for bringing up and relying on comments now made approximately 5 years ago. Much like this Court has previously stated that it knows pornography when it sees it, this Court likewise knows jealously and bitterness when it sees it. This Court will not sanction Mr. Prosecutor however as he suffers from an ailment known to be suffered by many others in this jurisdiction. Decision for those defending Coach Mueller. This is a final, but non-appealable order. This Court recommends that Mr. Prosecutor demand a refund for any tuition paid by him to obtain his on line law degree obtained from Fly By Night Law School. To the extent no tuition was paid, the conventional wisdom of "you get what you pay for" has once again been proven accurate.

Uh, how many times has Dale actually said Highlands should be in the hunt for the mythical national title? What years? Links to quotes from Dale please to back up your answer. I can remember one year and one year only that Dale actually said his team should be considered for the national championship (2009). And for the record I do think that in order to claim a national title Highlands or any other school has to play a more high profile schedule, similar to what Trinity played this past season. What I find rather ironic in this thread is there are some folks criticizing Highlands football for supposedly hurting Highlands baseball and basketball, and some folks criticizing Highlands for not playing a tougher schedule. If Dale was seriously going after the national title, and taking on regional powerhouses to do so, you would really see baseball and basketball suffer as Dale would have to have his all his players concentrate on football and only football 24/7/365. He would have to do exactly what most reasonable adults don't want a coach to do: influence/pressure his players to only play one sport. As it is now, there actually is a nice balance. Baseball had a great year and here's hoping basketball will have a strong year. As jpa mentioned in the NCC-Highlands baseball thread, Mueller has been very supportive of the baseball program. He has also been very supportive of the basketball program. He's doing it the right way. For those focusing on Dale's national championship, or even just national ranking, comments, you really need to think it through. It's just coach-speak Dale uses to motivate his kids. You know the same stuff you hear from your coaches all the time; just focusing on a much lower level of accomplishment. Heck, I've read plenty of comments from Ky coaches saying their teams will contend for a state championship or even a regional championship without the schedule to prepare them or for that matter the talent on the team to back up the comments. I realized it was just coach-speak and didn't criticize the coaches for the comments. I"m honestly surprised there are adults not smart or wise enough to realize that about Dale's comments. Or maybe they do and are just looking for something to criticize Highlands football about.

Sorry for what you may think was a harsh "welcome" but please understand that many of the posters who have been on here a long while have heard a ton of embellishment about players over the years. Heck if every Ky football player that someone posted was D-1 material actually got a D-1 scholarship, Kyians would fill up the SEC and Big 10 rosters (okay, some embellishment or exaggeration on my behalf ). So a lot of the more, shall we say seasoned posters like Clyde (and me too), won't hesitate to call baloney if they think they see it. Glad you are on the board (we can always use another Highlands fan on here....I can hear people groaning through my computer). Really looking forward to watching Hergott and the rest of the freddies don the Birds equipment and play this year.

If this stands, what's next? At football and basketball games, the students can't be close to the playing field/court? Not allowed to cheer too loudly? Can't dress up? I've never placed the importance on student cheering sections that many on here have, but this possible decision by the ump has even me scratching my head. It would be a very dumb move in my opinion. Oh, I forgot to mention: GO BIRDS!

The only possible benefit to Highlands beating NCC big is to attract those few Ft. Thomas kids on the fence who love football and aren't sure if they want to go to Highlands or NCC. Big wins by Highlands might influence those kids to attend Highlands. But for the record, I'm not in favor of playing NCC. Restating your thoughts: bigger fish to fry.

Well done Birds and JB. I wished I'd have been on the site and seen that the game was moved back. I'd have tried to make it. Although by 6:30 after having spent the day working in the heat at the farm and rivercamp, I was exhausted. Again congrats Birds and JB. Well done and good luck against Dixie. Really hated to hear of this. I didn't know him well, but decades ago, he and I played together on the East team in the Ky East West All Star Game. Kenny started at Center and I was the left Guard. Got to know him pretty well. Just a big old boy with a great sense of humor. He called me and another Birds player on the team (Jeff McMahon) Heckle and Jeckle. He was Cubby to us. Ran into him a couple of times in Lex when he was at UK. Always friendly has heck. Thoughts and prayers to his family. RIP Kenny.
