Very nice win boys! You got the bunts down, turned the heat on and took the fight to 'em. Very nice pitching by Schultz, Jones and then Murray closing it out. Enjoy this one tonight, take care of academics the next two days & come back to Florence Wednesday night ready to play!

Totally agree. Always prefer watching a high school game in a nice hs facility packed to the rim as opposed to a 1/4 full college or pro venue.

No doubt that Conner D was spotty tonight, but HHS hit the ball hard in response to those errors & made Conner pay. Two of Conner's early runs came about because of an HHS throwing error also.

Nice win by the Birds. Throw it, catch it & hit it. That is the name of the game. Back & forth game throughout. It was important that the Birds answered in the bottom of each inning when Dixie scored in the top. Maines pitched OK, but the Birds hit the ball hard (even some of the outs were very hard hit) and Conner did not field the ball well.

 

Birds are playing very good baseball at the end of the season when it matters most. This team was 9-20-1 after a loss to Simon Kenton. They have won 8 of the last 9. The only loss during that stretch? 8-4 at Dixie. They will have a chance to avenge that loss on Wednesday at 5:00 PM at Florence Freedom. Should be worth the price of admission!!!

 

Future is also bright. Starting lineup was 1 SR, 5 JR, 2 SO & 2 FR (counting DH). Add in another FR pitching 2 innings and 1 SO playing in the IF + some underclassmen pinch & courtesy runners throughout the game.

Congrats to HHS and I seemed to have remembered telling the Bluebird fans to just give the current coaching staff some time and they will bring you wins.

 

I have also said that Pitching and defense will win you games this year and both HHS and Dixie played solid "D" and won, while CovCath and Conner didn't and lost!

No question who I would hire to coach my team. Great teacher. Great baseball mind. Great communicator.
