Well done Birds and JB. I wished I'd have been on the site and seen that the game was moved back. I'd have tried to make it. Although by 6:30 after having spent the day working in the heat at the farm and rivercamp, I was exhausted.

Highlands Baseball Coach JB really loves baseball and his team. I see him after some of his games. You can tell when he gets out of his truck if they won or lost. Not only is he the baseball coach at Highlands, he coaches 2 youth teams. He is really working hard for the futhure Highlands baseball. What a great win for them.

Yep and they have a lot of talent coming up in the youth system. I know of some very talented 12 yr olds who will be itching to tryout for the frosh team when they get to 7th grade.

I would expect the Cougars to be the mix as well next year. Looks like they will return 6 starters and their ace.

 

Nice season for a team that many doubted at the start of the season.

The "future" is now! All this talk in the past about how the future looks bright because of the great youth that's coming up, well, these kids have been playing now for awhile. 3 years for some so I say, now baby! This team has exceeded some people's expectations based on preseason talk and the "youth" excuse. Well, if you watched the game last night, these boys look seasoned to me. Yes, they are young, but with plenty of experience. Sometimes, youth wins over senior ladened teams. Sometimes! I like the Birds chances against Dixie. Wow! The fans have got to be excited. As well as the kids. Can't wait to read BGP with a win on Wed. Go Birds!

Agreed !! The Frosh are no longer in the 9th grade and are Varsity players who are just as hungry as upperclassman.

 

My post was to point out that there is a lot of young talent coming up and if Coach B can keep kids interested and achieve some success the program will benefit.

Point well taken. This group will be playing their 40th game this season tomorrow!!! That is a ton of experience in 1 campaign. Q is right, it's kind of like the NCAA basketball tournament -- there are no Freshman in March and there are very few "young" players in Game #40 of the season.
