Congrats to coach Flintstone and the Birds... :D

Apparently Dixie left a bunch of runners on base. Birds work out of 2 bases loaded jams and Dixie left 2 on in the final inning from what I understood.

Congrats to the Birds. Keep it rolling.

Saw this game tonite and the score of this game was very misleading. Never even close, Birds command from 1st pitch to end.

Play of the game imo is 1st or 2nd inning Dixie has man on 1st base nobody out and kid for Dixie strikes out and Quentin Murray throw an absolute rocket from his heels and picks kid off of 1st. You could tell right then it was going to be the Birds game to win.

Congrats to Highlands, well earned and deserving program win:thumb:

Congrats to the Dirty Birds and JB!!!!

Birds started strong with 3 in the 1st (hit the ball HARD) and 1 in the 2nd. Tack on 2 much needed insurance runs in the top of the 7th for a 6-0 lead and hang on in the bottom of the 7th for a 6-4 win. Birds avenge their only loss in their 10 games with a win over Dixie.

Super outing from SO Joey Cochran going 4.2 scoreless innings. 1st 3 were unremarkable and got out of a bases loaded jam in the 4th with only 1 out. Impressive relief appearance by JR Quentin Murray working out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 5th, working a clean 6th and surviving some control issues & correctly pitching to contact with a 6 run lead in the 7th.

Offensive stars included Murray, FR Jakey Whitford, JR Hector Molina, JR Jake Heck and JR Jake Lester. Lots of hard hit balls in this game.

The play by Murray was awesome. I am not sure about the "not close" part. Dixie had bases loaded early with one out and did not score. It seemed Dixie had multiple chances to score throughout the game. Good pitching and questionable plate discipline cost Dixie. I thought the play at the plate was correct. Max complained, but the ump was not having it.

Definitely a key play in the game and a stud throw by Murray. BTW, HHS stranded 4. Dixie stranded 12.

The Birds have been a lot of fun to watch over the last few weeks! Let's keep playing ball, boys!

Congrats to the Birds. They got hot at the right time. Just wondering, when was the last time a team with 20 losses made it to the regional finals?

Highlands was 9-19 on May 7th and frankly, there weren't a whole lot of "quality" wins in that 9-win total. I'm guessing the odds of them reaching the regional final at that point would have been somewhere around 200-1 and if you said you thought it was going to happen at that point you would either be lying or own a crystal ball. Here we are 3 weeks later and they have rolled off 9 wins in 10 games and the loss was a competitve 8-4 game against Dixie. This kind of turnaround just doesn't happen very often. Total props to Coach Baioni and his team. It takes a serious, big-time coaching performance to make something like this occur.

Got to talk briefly with Coach Baioni after the game and you could tell he was thrilled beyond thrilled with the turnout and support of the HHS student body, especially the football team. That kind of support certainly fires up a team. HHS has a ton of momemtum going right now and not someone I'd want to be playing.

Holy moly! After grabbing a bite to eat and finishing up some necessary work, how bout dem "Birds"! Here we are today looking at an all District 36 final. What! The "lowly District 36". Can't be happening right. Well all, I think we are seeing the "Coach of the year" performance or better yet, "Team of the year" or at very least, shocking performance of the year. Either way, the Birds and Breds play tonight in the FINALS!

That was a fun game and hopefully tonight's is as well. Looking for the Bird faithful to come out in droves!

Finish it off now and put the icing on the CAKE!
